In MS, it's now WR#1 CL vs WR#2 JOJ ??? Really, wishful thinking. Taking an isolated, circumstantial incident as representative of a trend is groundless, unobjective, not in accord with reality. Is JOJ in the same league as CL and LD that he can replace LD's role? The answer is a no-brainer. To repeat, if not for Lin Dan's long hiatus and then unexpected injury during his comeback , what should his world ranking be? Even if LD didn't play enough tournaments and his ranking continue to be low, he is without a shadow of a doubt still very much the player everybody wants to beat. In this AE, if not for the luck of the draw, what do you think is the most probable lineup for today's MS Final ? I don't even have to remind you that Lin Dan is factually not 100% fit though he has recovered from his injury, unlike at the CHN Open last year when he was still carrying an injury going into the tournament. I can assure you the world badminton order in MS will soon be restored, rightfully, to Lin Dan vs Chen Long (and/or Lee CW provided he comes back). Period. As for WS, let's wait for Li Xuerui to come back from injury, then we talk. But I've to admit, it will less likely to be All-CHN affairs in future.
In other words, today's MS Final lineup is an anomaly, thanks, but no thanks to the luck of the draw. Like Lin Dan, I'm beginning to wish for Lee CW to return to competition as soon as possible after he's received a fair and reasonable suspension (but, apparently, a two-year ban will be game over for him, whereas a one-year ban would see him coming back sometime this year; a 1-1/2 year ban? Not sure).
Just Wondering about LCW's comeback by reading above posts..I am missing his attitude towards the sport!! Any idea?? I heard somewhere that he'll taking part in Rio..so for that he need sometime to reach his prime and removing the rust from the body
It might still be available here http://videostream.dn.ua/videopage/videoPage.php?g=c2J2b2JoK2F0Y3ZsbmhZ&c=en&i=eWlhaXVidGd1bA№f№f , remember to select badminton on the right.
In the WS Saina vs Marin, I've no preference. Objectively speaking, with Saina playing as I've never seen her before as in her G1 with WYH (G2 not deserving of mention as WYH practically threw it away), I think she has the edge, could be decisive. My concern is whether Zhang Nan can handle two finals, esp the MD where he would start with a disadvantage as it is his 10th match of the week. I'd suggest he goes all out to win the XD and do what he can in the MD later so as to minimize the possibility of losing both. But I suspect he will probably want to conserve some energy in the XD so as not to let FHF down. This AE may serve as a testbed for him.
World ranking is not determined by polling ; it is given by points, nothing more, nothing less. JOJ is number 2.
