i guess the JPY is getting weaker in order to prop the much declined exports and the underlying twin deficits as the Abe govt is targeting a 2% inflation to revive the nearly three decade long deflation with the huge quantitative easing alias money printing (see Kyle Bass)... but i realize that SGS (Singapore's Great Sales) is still ongoing... therefore, S'pore, we're coming...to shop till we drop!!! :D

it will be interesting to see the current mapping after today's R1, how many survive how many down from any particular country...

in no way quantity can't substitute quality

quite a few heavy casualties for Round 1, noticeably India and Malaysia lost almost 3/4 of their squads.

and the host has only 1 pair left after day 1.

In fact if you didn't spell it out, it's hardly to notice from the Tournament Software's match overview page, there appear still many tiny flags of Red & White [IMG] pretty tough to realize that the host just has one shuttler left.

For the second round, again MAS and IND lost another 75% of their players!

Men’s singles is the most diversify with 7 countries in the QF and only 1 of them had won a SS title before.

Both CHN and INA achieve the best in this round, suffer the least casualties (or highest percentage of survivors). Let's see the outcome in QF tomorrow.

Korean Mixed doubles are back, after quite sometime there is no strong mixed doubles, now KOR has 3 in QF

And LYD might play XD again after WC

It may be a bit too premature to judge the strength of KOR XD, let see their achievement at the rest of tourney here...yet all the 3 KOR XD pairs are in lower half, pitting the lone MAS pair so we can hardly see the real challenge. I still highly doubt that either one of them is able to pass the now tourney favorite: the INA pair, TA/LN, as per projection in the final stage.

The more revealing picture will be seen in the coming important tourney, WC in August, provided they all show up there :D

What an unexpected QF for INA players !

I was expecting CHN to have the most representatives in SF but turns out it is not

INA actually has a chance to clean sweep for a SS t'ment.
anyone fancy to give us some percentages and i'll work out the chance for the clean sweep

let's say a 25% winning chance for MS, WS, MD & WD with the exception of XD at 55%, say.

the chance for a clean sweep is fairly low at just over 0.2%.

You're way too generous for WS and way too stingy on MD. :p

    The final winning odds

Well. the winning odds in finals are as follows:

    INA 90% XD + 60% MS + 50% MD

    CHN 100% WS + 50% WD

the titles may be spread over as evenly as each by 5 countries or as centralized as only two... i tend to stand on the latter... it will be quite an excellent moment for the INA squad then, after so long... to achieve something that they are even unable to accomplish at home courts.

Well, i will put my fingers crossed until then... :p
