Nguyen is fighting hard as usual against future CHN MS prince. 69 minutes already and still 11-14 at decider.

Future " CHN MS prince" ?. Are U sure U are prepared for brickbats that may come your way. Already there are members of this forum who have taken upon themselves to dictate that terms like " Super King" and " Child Prodigy" should not be used, like they actually own this forum. LOL

Absolutely right. Looks like she is in Shanghai just to avoid being fined US 5000, no?

Indeed, she lost easily to CHN back up player Yao Xue  The highest seeded WS player that tumbled in first round.

In the last interview she said she just enjoys the freedom which she now has by leaving the national team.
I think it's not really important for her to win or to lose.

For me - it's a sad story about a (maybe ex) world class player :(

HTH/TWK takes first game against 2nd seeds Boe/Mogensen. Will the two top seeds in MD both be out today?

That's really sad. She's down to play in Hong Kong and she's very popular. Hope we can see more of her games at her best performance .

Unbelievable, just managed to catch the JS - Yao Xue match, and , boy, Yao Xue is devastating playing fast and furious badminton with fewer mistakes than before to deliver a crushing defeat on the Soldier who literally gave up in the second half of G2 (something troubling her?).

Yao Xue is obviously an aggressive attacking player in the mould of LXR, more impressive than say Suo Di who plays more like WYH but with less determination and also has the bad habit of falling on her knees when she cannot reach the shuttle in time. Earlier, Suo Di was one game up and leading 14-11 in the decider against Sung JH but suddenly cracked up after misjudging a couple of shots which were called in by the linejudge, seemingly losing her focus.

Han Li also played well to beat Bae YJ. Wang Shixian was clinical in disposing of Lindaweni Fanetri. Wang Yihan as usual kept pressing until her opponent, Mitani Minatsu, who is no longer a rallying but all-rounded player, capitulated.

Another shocker as the top Danish MD is given the boot by the less garlanded Malaysian pair. Things do not bode well for the WC in Denmark next year...

And as for Juliane, if I felt abandoned by my national federation like I'm sure she does, I don't think I'd be doing half as well as she's doing...

Tian Houwei appears to me a slow starter, often against feisty opponents, he tends to lose the opener before upping his game to take the next two sets. His victory over the WC bronze medallist and renowned fighter, Nguyen Tien Minh, is commendable.

Whilst Ahsan/Setiawan's loss to LYD/YYS isn't that much of an upset, the Danish Bo/Moe's elimination by the relative unfancied, unseeded MAS pair of Hoon/Tan is clearly a significant upset - it should come as a breath of fresh air for the MAS fans. If only it were KKK/TBH's feat instead.

It looks like LYD enjoy playing with YYS more than KSY. We are not seeing the staring and angry look of LYD towards his partner. Good luck with the revenge though! Too bad we won't be able to see LYD/YYS in the final SS event in MAS in December.
