Many high profile shuttlers skip China Masters but all Asian's best will make trip to China next week for Asian Badminton Championships. This year edition is more interesting as some top names show up to collect ranking points due to Rio qualification period will reach finish line on 1st May 2016.

Host China brings their full arsenal in men's singles category including their twin stars Chen Long and Lin Dan, only Tian Houwei misses his homeground Grand Prix Gold. So Wan Ho, Srikanth Kidambi, HS Prannoy, Lee Dong Keun, Sho Sasaki are foreign notable participants that will pose some threats for local hopefuls. Defending champion Wang Zhengming has tricky opening test, Kazumasa Sakai while top-ranked Chen Long should have no problem to pass early round and he's slated to meet Sho Sasaki in last sixteen, a preview of upcoming Thomas Cup group stage match. Two-time Olympic Champion Lin Dan has easy path en route to semifinal when he will face either Wang ZM or Son WH.

In women's singles discipline, Li Xuerui is strong favourite to top podium, both the left-handed He Bingjiao and P.V. Sindhu are her potential opponent in last eight and semifinal respectively who may reject the Olympic Champion mission. First round intriguing tie will pit Yui Hashimoto against the resurgent Porntip Buranaprasertsuk. Another Thai player, Busanan Ongbumrungpan should be another tough rival for home hopefuls.

Three Korean leading pairs, Lee YD/Yoo YS, Ko SH/Shin BC and Kim GJ/Kim SR will rule this tournament in the absence of elite men's doubles combinations. A big opportunity for world number one Lee/Yoo to pick first title in 2016 after failed in several tournaments lately. It's tough job for 2013 All England winner Liu XL/Qiu ZH, Wang YL/Zhang W and young sensation Huang KX/Zheng SW to bring China glory in this discipline as their top two pairs Fu HF/Zhang N skip this GP Gold and Chai B/Hong W pulled out.

It's opportunity for current Dubai SS Finals champion, Luo Ying/Luo Yu to redeem lacklustre performance that causes their world ranking have plummeted to number seven. Last year world championships bronze medalist, Fukuman/Yonao and two Korean leading women's doubles pairs, Jung KE/Shin SC and Chang YN/Lee SH who're participating non stop tournament since NZL GP Gold last month will be major stumbling block for home combinations. Interesting clash will pit two-time world junior champion, Chen QC/Jia YF who start to climb into Superseries level recently aginst Fukuman/Yonao at opening stage.

Two-time winner and number one-seed Xu C/Ma J who's being runner-up in Singapore couple of days ago will be pre-tournament favourite, former world junior champion Zheng SW/Chen QC and recent IND Superseries champion, Lu K/Huang YQ are another China best chance in this category. Korea almost brings full force, Shin BC/Chae YJ, Choi SG/Eom HW, Kim GJ, Shin SC, Lee YD/Lee SH minus their top-ranked Ko SH/Kim HN. Former world number three Chan PS/Goh LY who showed excellent display in NZL Open and MAS Premier recently is expected to continue their fine run.

The partial withdrawals according to ts com updated : Sameer Verma (IND), Zulfadli Zulkiffli (MAS), Parupalli Kashyap (IND), Akane Yamaguchi (JPN), Saina Nehwal (IND), Lee SM/Tsai CH (TPE), Chai B/Hong W (CHN), Tang YT/Yu Y (CHN), Tian Q/Zhao YL (CHN), Kithitarakul/Prajongjai (THA), Lee CH/Chau HW (HKG), Chan YL/Tse YS (HKG).

The tournament is already started with Qualification and MS R/64 (09.00am local time, 4 court) =>https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/matches.aspx?id=34B879DC-1948-47E1-9E25-6CD469CC9E9D

Oh no, I'll do Blabl's expression now. This is the biggest shock of my life, Srikanth lost to Lin Yu Hsien in two easy games. 12-21, 17-21.
Just check tournamentsoftware, and SK played in second MS match and he lost. What a bad morning it is for Indian fans.

Not a shock anymore. He is experiencing one of the worse moments of his career. I wonder what happens if he falls even in Ranking and go below Ajay Jayaram. Only one more tournament to qualify, BAC in china. Probably, Prannoy and Ajay will go to RIO.

another let down for Soo Teck Zhi who just lost to the very lower ranked CHN player in straight games, seems like STZ's chance for getting into the list of MAS Thomas Cup team is gonna slimmer...

Watching again his match against Lin Dan in China SS final, I just can't believe he will reach this level of play like today. He is not even injured. He need someone he can talk to. I am sure this has nothing to do with technical skill. This Taiwan MS is #100+ rank.

After being quarterfinalist in just concluded SIN Superseries, defending champion Wang Zhengming once again got early exit, this time lost to Kazumasa Sakai with 15-21 / 17-21.

Coming up next, interesting encounter between Boonsak Ponsana v Qiao Bin.

You saw what happened to kenichi tago (brilliant talent turning into rubbles - distraction made him that way). I don't know what distraction Srikanth is experiencing nowadays. You never know when you are 22 or 23. Hope KS come back to his normal form.

It's finally clear now that Illegal gambling is the reason for Tago. Yesterday Japan Times released that another junior has confessed he was among visitor of that illegal casino. The name is not yet publicly released.
Wonder what has distracted Srikanth anyway.

In G1, Qiao Bin outfoxed the wily Boonsak in the last few points, learning from his opponent how to be deceptive.
