Personally I just like a bit of variety... I guess it's kinda silly really, but checking the tournament results for the QFs and seeing the same flag all the way down the SF column kind of leaves me very disinterested for what's to come, and I feel a little let down... It's really nothing to do with China, if it was any other country dominating I'd still hope for the "underdogs". Because when the hopes of a country rest solely on your shoulders, you're always going to have a lot more motivation to win. When every other player left in the tournament is from the same country... well it may as well just be a national championship (albeit with a rather large (in badminton terms) cash prize :D) as far as I'm concerned!

Anyway I don't really mind if a China player or two gets through (Lin Dan always makes for a very interesting final!), but I like a bit of variety here and there. To me, the most interesting tournaments are usually where a lesser known player comes out of nowhere to win! And if that player came from China, well that would be great too :). Basically I just prefer to see a range of flags as I look down the page, and that usually means China players will have to lose somewhere along the line... nothing against China (I'm... 1/16th Chinese :p), just the way I prefer things personally :).

Ahhh...! This is what I was trying to say all packed into a few sentences!

Very sharp hah! What was your time then, late afternoon? I'm a night bird and with the slight flu bugging me, I just couldn't have a peaceful rest. Furthermore, didn't quite visit the net for a good look at the TC/UC results. Some of the TC teams like the Korean men are taking things easy and exposing their younger players since they have already qualified for the finals.

In a way, I'm glad that our own teams are fielding the younger ones, although they failed to impress much, except our UC team. I think our target for the TC/UC finals is 2010. ;)

Yup, nobody can hate Gao Ling ....:)

Even CTF fell for Zhang Jiewen. :D

And everyone anticipates a final with LD in it, even though they hope for him to lose in earlier rounds :p ..... kakakaka

Night bird, u better get some rest and build your stamina.

The Thomas Cup final sessions start at 1 pm and 6 pm WIB. That's 2 pm and 7 pm S'pore time. And there's this good half a km walk one way from our Hotel to Istora ...... I anticipate we need 2 kms worth of leg power at least per day.

Don't scare pjswift lah! I thought the stadium is just adjacent to our hotel?
But not to worry, I will be lighter than you and you have to carry the tripod too! :D After all, isn't it more or less equivalent to roughly 5 games on the badminton court? ;)

Yes it is, but Senayan is a sports complex like Bukit Jalil and Kallang. And Istora is located quite a bit away, like Putra Stadium if coming from the LRT station, or Indoor stadium coming from Geylang (Guillemard Road).

I can arrange backup for pjswift, hotel taxi. But u and me, we must walk, as tough men .....:p. Old men walk with canes, tough men walk with tripods and cameras. :D

Back to All-England, one day I must go to the NIA, never been to the All-Englands since they moved from Wembley Arena and London. This year I might miss the Astro broadcast of the semis and finals, going outstation to attend a cousin's wedding ......

Our version of eternal rest is one that is controllable, not one way street! :D

However I do agree with you that being able to travel freely to watch and enjoy the TC/UC in Jakarta is priceless! :D:D

Depends on who is surrounding you! Fellow Malaysians, like abedeng, in large numbers, I think that will boost your courage. :D But if they are from the opposition, better be more restrained! ;)
