As everyone knows, Yonex shoes have become shorter and narrower over recent years. I haven't ever been able to get a consistent and confortable fit with my SHB-101's so I started to look elsewhere.

Unfortunately, for those with wide feet like me this is bad news. I normally wear 2E or 4E running shoes depending on the manufacturer.

I'm also getting heavier with age and as a result my very high arches collapsed somewhat resulting in painful heels and arches.

The SHB102 and the latest set of Yonex shoes are still too narrow and even going up one size doesn't assist.

So I tried on a pair of Asic Blast 3's that belonged to a friend who also had wide feet. They were half a size too big, but I could instantly feel that my feet had room to move.

So I've just bought a bright green pair of the Blast 4's in a UK10, as the black pair looks way too boring and the light blue ones are available in the UK yet.

The net cost including delivery was £73, which wasn't bad as I got £10 off my first order with Sarenza and 10.1% cashback from Topcashback.co.uk. If it doesn't fit, they also have a free swap out and collect facility.

I'm also considering replacing the insoles with a set that has more rigid arch support, but I'll take that leap of faith once I get the new shoes.

I'm pretty sure you are talking about the Gel Blast. I found the Blast 4 to be slightly narrower when I tried them on, but it is a mesh top so it has more give than the Blast 3. I'm sure they will be fine. I don't think the Gel Blade 4 are available yet.

So, we're in 2013 now [IMG] and the Blade 4's are on their way. They look a little more streamlined; pics thanks to a "sneak" preview [IMG]:

[forgot to fit the 3's in the Asics outlet, maybe next time if they even have my size]

Pretty sure the white version is the ladies version :p (but it does look "classic" I guess after looking at it a few more times; the first time it just looks like a $20 Asics indoor shoe). But there will probably be more colours eventually ...

Oh wow. I'm absolutely in love with the Gel Blade 4! I don't know if it's optical, but to me the 4 looks a bit higher at the heel base compared to the 3. Have to wait until June I believe :(

I really like the design of the pair in white. Do you know how much that pair weighs?

Clearly different from Blade 3, maybe you should look at a picture of the Blade 3 when you are comparing it ;). The bottom of the sole is also re-designed ...
