I've been looking for a spare BS11 to accompany the two I already have and have just been offered a used BS11 which looks genuine enough in the photos.

However, there was one thing that caught my eye and I wanted to check with other BS11 owners to see if it is of significance.

As most of you know, the high-end Bravesword range all have red grommets for the crosses closest to the sweetspot.

However on all the BS11 I have seen, the red grommets are only red on the inside of the frame, but black on the outside. But the BS11 that I am being offered has red grommets that are red inside and outside.

From memory, I have only seen such grommets on the BSLYD and BSLHI.

As Victor hasn't been the most consistent racquet manufactuer, this might just be a batch that was different. But I just want to check with you guys to see if anyone else has a genuine BS11 that has the full red grommets not the half ones. Thanks! :)

How can the same grommets be red on the inside and black on the outside (assuming they don't do half painted ones)? From what I can tell it is a mixture of full red ones and black ones; if it is a DE code probably no reason to worry ...
    Yours are all black ones?

edit: just saw the red inside, black outside on a BS08 advert indeed! Maybe it changed along with the "Brave Sword" to "Sword"?

That is what I find unique about some of the braveswords and something that fakers probably won't try and copy - given that not many people would notice. Some of the Braveswords do indeed have grommets that are red on the inside and black on the outside. I haven't taken one out to see how it is made, I may do when I next restring my racquets.

I like these little touches that the racquet manufacturers put in that makes it more difficult to copy. The more of these features they have the better imo.

As a racquet collector, I do study these fine details closely, so I don't get caught out by a fake. But when it comes to Victor, the discrepancies in their manufacturering and quality control sometimes wrong-foots me.

    So hence my post here...

Would be grateful if genuine BS11 owners can help here... thanks! :)

I came across some pics of the newer BS11's the one with just "Sword" inside the frame and blue buttcaps and they still have the red inside, black outside: http://matosbad.blogspot.nl/2012/06/victor-brave-sword-11-2012-testee-par.html

The one you shared is of such quality it's hard to tell if the grommets are really poor or if it is just the picture so indeed let's await some owners' input about possible variations ...

Hi, thanks for posting that. But one question, how do you that red inside/red outside means fake? I honestly can't tell looking at the photos you posted.

red/red for bs11 with cap made in taiwan is fake. bs11 made in taiwan are red inside, black outside. but the real default of fake are the rim of frame same you can see in the last photo

Thanks for the insight! Glad you posted with that information...

When you say the rim of the frame, do you mean the shape of the frame is different?

About your last point, the white is a bit lower on yours but on the one I posted it is a little higher. So probably not a reliable indicator of a fake. But the other points seem reliable...

Thanks, I just checked all my Braveswords and you're right. They all have the first grommet past the slope part of the "trench".

I also have a BS11 where the shockless side grommets on the frame are black outside, red inside. I also noticed my buttcap is a glossy deep royal blue color, with the victor logo and taiwan, slighty embossed. This appears a lot darker than what I've seen typically on those made in China, in more recent years.

Also, if you imagine the victor logo as a shuttle, the head (white dot) is spaced just a little farther from the feather outline (v), compared to typical or the current logo design.

On the cap, I was wondering if others noticed the words "VICTOR" looks just a little different than more recent font style, this is most apparent in the C and the O, where the O looks more like a "circular donut."
