Sunday CCC CATS at MSAC on 13-Oct-2013 (A Short Report) . Here is a short report for our Sunday CCC CATS at MSAC on 13-Oct-2013. We thank trainees for removing themselves from our 'Booking List' when unable to attend; therefore opening up vacancies for new trainees wishing to join us. Reminder : If you are unable to attend, kindly remove your name ASAP so that others can replace you, otherwise you will be fined. Why? And MSAC charges the court fees if we cancel our courts within 24 hours before our session starts. We welcome Janice-S attending her first CCC CATS with us. At this session, we Chapter 10 Netplay – on these strokes :- the 'Bounce', the 'Tumble', and the 'Spin' (with 'Footwork' involved). Some points to remember : * To perform better 'Netplay' strokes, these principles should be trained, namely: - 'Correct Footwork, - 'Longest Reach', - 'Contact 10cm under the Net Height', - 'Eye Level Contact', - 'No upward movement of the racket-head', and - 'Proper balance with other arm'. * The 'Tumble' is to cause to shuttlecock to somersault. * The 'Spin' is to cause to shuttlecock to spin. If trainees are still not understanding the lesson taught, please ask me questions next session (to give you info/demo that you require). Comments on our 5 attending trainees: * Chong-S is still having problems with her 'Footwork'. But when able to get into position, her 'Bounce' is usually quite good. * WaiKin-Y is doing well. Most times, able to keep concentrating on the important points taught. * Mario-P needs to have his 'Point of Impact' higher, which is '10cm under the Net Height'. * Owen-L needs to shorten his horizontal stroke to 'Tumble' and/or to 'Spin'. * Janice-S, being new with us, is doing OK. Sunday CCC CATS at MSAC on 20-Oct-2013 (Lesson on Footwork) . Last Sunday (13-Oct-2013), we trained for the 3 strokes/shots. namely :- the 'Bounce', the 'Tumble', and the 'Spin'. Trainees have learnt to do them quite well when in position. When not in position, there are problems. Therefore, this Sunday (20-Oct-2013), we shall be training on 'Footwork'. .
Dropshot Drill . Janice-S asked me for the sequence of the 'Dropshot Drill'. Answer : For any drill, it is easier to follow the sequence of the trajectory of the shuttlecock played by both you and your trainee-partner. It is harder to concentrate just for your own sequence. Therefore, for the 'Dropshot Drill', it is : Lift-Drop-Bounce/Tumble/Spin, Lift-Drop-Bounce/Tumble/Spin, Lift-Drop-Bounce/Tumble/Spin, Lift-Drop-Bounce/Tumble/Spin, and on-and-on ...... However, we need to concentrate on the targets : 1. Lift to the BTL. 2. Bounce/Tumble/Spin to the FC. 3. Drop to the FC. etc, etc, ...... We also need to concentrate on the trajectories : 1. Trajectory going up, flat or down. 2. How much power is required for the trajectory. 3. Where to place the 'MAXIMA'. etc, etc, ...... .
