I think the rota is sorted by world rankings and Lin Dan has currently dropped by a lot since he hasn't been playing many tournaments.

Sure if LD plays first single, the outcome may be different. But how many more years can LD play? He is semi-retiring already. Obviously CL is not LD yet. Unless they find someone to replace LD, the men's team will be in a slump for a while just like when Zhao and YY retired.

You guys do realise that Lin Dan was not eligible to play first singles due to his ranking right?

If go by ranking, why can't pick Wang Zhenming rather than Du pengyu ?

Men's double if choose by ranking , world no 6 Liu xiao long/ qiu zihan why isn't playing ... obviously is not the ranking!

China deserve to lose by playing Chai Biao/Wei hong , and Du Pengyu

It depends on the line up/players fielded. The higher rank pair/single will have to be fielded first and WZM was not being selected to be part of the TUC team due to his poor result of late

Hindsight is amazing! The problem, Chen Long was mediocre yesterday, played as if the 2nd or 3rd rated shuttler! So sluggish. Chai/Hong didn't have the nerve yesterday for losing that many game points in the 1st set! They just lacked of champion's quality.

Well, for sure yesterday was simply Japan's very bright day...they had everything right in place!!

Very "insightful and knowledgeable" predictions there.:D:rolleyes:

It all came from the least team out of your expectation/order and then both the singles also got slaughtered;).

There's no need for a miracle. All it required is this nation called Yapane! LMAO.

Dare the risk and make it foresight

flite, whats so great about your hindsight statement...dare to risk nothing? get the guts only after event? please be mature enough to not ridicule others based on that after-event reality.
But if you fond of that, make it foresight then!

And do not be overly confident about your Dai Nippon conclusion...it is not too late to wait a while for the outcomes throughout the year! just saying... :p

It seems you too do not practice what you preach. I did not claim nor expect my statement to be deem great. Don't jump the gun.

Hindsight or foresight, I don't make bold statements. My conclusion? What conclusion are you at referring at? You meant my personal opinion in another thread? Don't get confused with your choice of words!

By the way if you don't know what really transpire here, get out of the way.

take any high performance (or even low performance) machinery and run them at high gear for a long time and sooner or later they will start to break down. when that happens, it will need to go back to the shop, have the mechanic figure out what is wrong and then fixes what is broken.

China has a awesome run in both the Thomas and Uber Cup. much more than any country has. But even worse than a machine, they not only have issues with breaking down, there is also the human factor.

The previous years of win from China just seem to feel too easy. when that happens, human gets lazy, they can complacent. Add to that a rising standard from the rest of the world, and this is what happens. A shocking defeat from a team whose dramatic rise in performance has stunned not only the players but all of the world of badminton.

China need to go home, accept the fact that they no longer can dominate the world of badminton like they used to, they no longer can purely look at strength and ranking, as a team event is very different. many times they have hit Waterloo before, 2003 Sudirman Cup, 2010 Uber Cup, and now 2014 Thomas Cup.

The team on Friday lacked fighting spirit, it was as if they win so much they don't know what it takes to win anymore. They have gotten numb. That need to be changed.

And given this is Chinese team, it will happen like 2010, the team will be whipped into the proper mental and physical shape again.

What does this all mean? There are two possibilities. One is that China will come back stronger and tougher than they were before.

However, I think what will happen is that the world of badminton will be awoken. They will realize that China winning all the world championship is no longer the status quo. They will still win a lot, but there will be more upset. The rest of the world is rising and it will just be more and more excitement for the fans.

I believe the problem is the selection of players , Question why is Qiu Zihan /liu Xiao long , Tian Houwei not push up to first double and 2rd singles, in the game against Japan ..

There is always a "what if", if Qiu/Liu and Tian played and lost, people will ask why not .....

Yup. Beforehand, people ask why. Why play Ueda, why play Darren liew, afterward people ask why not play, why not play qiu/Liu, why not play tian, ....
