For WS, I think China will see who is the most probable opponent, and then field either WYH or LXR.
For XD, ZYL has not been the same fearsome player since Olympic 2012, and it seem worse after I heard ZYL joined some 'China Political Party'. At this time, I would choose MJ/XC.
For MD, LXL/QZH seems to be the on-form pair for China, but for surprises, I think China may pair LXL with Chai Biao.
Nobody knows the form of LD, but at this point, CL is capable of beating all the current top players, including LCW.
For WD, unless WXL & YY plays with their left hand, then opponents may get a chance (to win) . . . otherwise it is a foregone conclusion. :)

We are talking about strongest China line up for Sudirman Cup.
Bao YX and Tang JH are good back up player, but I think Cheng Shu may be one of the reserve.

I agree and believe that Chai Biao/Hong Wei are the second pair since they have not lost a match so far (including beating LXL/QZH at the German open final in March).

I think we are fairly agreed on Chen Long, Wang Yihan and Yu Yang/Wang Xiaoli.

As regard to the MD, it’s no question that Liu Xiaolon/Qiu Zihan is the form pair but one factor against them is lack of experience, especially under pressure to get the point for the team is still untested. If Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun are anywhere near their best, say 90%+ I’ll still play them as I regard they are safer to get the points than the youngsters.

For the XD it’s really not much to choose between the two top pairs, both are not at their best after the Olympics. The good point about them is they can both perform under extreme pressure as in London OLY SFs; both won their respective match after a game down.

    As for the H2H,
XC/MJ won their last 3 matches against TA/LN of INA and the last 2 matches against JF/CP of DEN.
ZN/ZYL won their last match against JF/CP but lost the last 2 against TA/LN.

On paper Korean’s XD is not much of a threat, but knowing them they might come up with yet another snatched pair!

That is a fair assessment but I still think China will look to the future by installing Liu Xiaolon/Qiu Zihan as first pair to let them gain more experience in big tournaments. This is the same reason that Lin Dan is not even selected for this one.

However, after watching they played in India open, I believe they are ready to take on the duty now.

LYB just ruined my CHN SC dream team! with 5 gold medalist of the latest OG in the team would be awesome! but they left LD at home. :(

but i guess that is what happen if your team have decent number of good players.

don't be so sure lah. remember UC 2010? :D

any team need to maintain their focus till the end if they wanna win. ;)

I heard that only Du PY as the sole MS now in the training camp for Sudirman cup.

Chen Long may join later, now he's in Beijing for his injury treatment.

Lin Dan is busy with helping the victims of a big earthquake in western China.

Me too, hope Chen Long is up to it,he's got the capability, for sure. Just that it's the first time he is playing the lead role and helming the team that used to be Lin Dan's responsibility, and we're well aware Team China is most vulnerable on such occasions; hope the pressure of the burden of expectation doesn't get too much for him.

Which is why, partly based on current form, I tend to agree WYH is a safer bet than LXR as the former has been through the baptism of fire, esp the 2010 Uber Cup debacle from which she emerged stronger than ever. And ,as AlanY has correctly pointed out before, the order of play is an important factor, the ideal for CHN being MS, WD, WS, then either MD or XD (it never starts with a doubles category,if I'm not wrong).

For MD, I think Liu/Qiu can step up to the plate though a (nearly) fully fit Cai/Fu is the preferred choice. Even Chai Biao/Hong Wei when called upon can do the job too, I suppose. As for XD, I don't think any team, with the exception of KOR most likely, can push CHN to such an extent that it will come down to the XD tie-breaker, assuming XD is the last match of the draw. All the very best to Team CHN.

    the order of play is set out in Cl 13 of;
    http://www.bwfbadminton.org/file_download.aspx?id=422671&tid=1

unless one of the team has the girl playing both doubles, the order of play will be

MD, WS, MS, WD and XD.

The team most likely to have the girl playing both WD & XD will be Korea.
The order of play will then be

XD, MS, MD, WS and WD.

That will be the real test for CHN's MD to get the 2nd point!

either way MD is the key for CHN.

    My prediction :
    XD : XuChen/MaJin
Besides their consistent track record against other strong XD, eg Towi/Butet, Majin is too lovely to be missed :p
MS : Chen Long ( For sure )
MD : Cai Yun / Fu Hai Feng or Liu Xiao Long / Qiu Zi Han
It is a very hard decision to be made by CBA whether they will trust 2012 OG Gold Medal winner who always deliver in team event, AFAIK, or will place the burden on younger pair Liu Xiao Long / Qiu Zi Han shoulder in order to train them for the next team events. With 2013 India Open Super Series being their final evaluation on which they have beaten BoMo, LYD/KSH again. The odds are that they will play in group preliminaries along with CY/FHF. Who will play in the final will depends on their performance in the group stage and the MD they might face in the advanced rounds.
    WS : Wang Yi Han
    Safer choice than LXR.
WD : Wang Xiao Li / Yu Yang
No duos are comparable to this pair, just yet.

I think it also depends on the score line at the time too. They will use Liu Xiao Long / Qiu Zi Han or Cai Biao/Hong Wei if China is leading 2-0 or won the match by the time MD comes up.

if i am correct on this, i think the team should enter their players list few hours before the match started. so the team can't decide the players they want to put on in the middle of the match no more. but please correct me if i am wrong on this.

about Chen Long to lead the team, fortunately china team had gave him chance to do that in 2012 TC preliminary round. so he should do it well. in MD, Liu/Qiu already proved that they do have this mental strength in AE 2013 when facing Bo/Mo. the only matter would be if they have sufficient quality to complete that.

and can anybody tell me why Sudirman Cup has no preliminary round as Thomas and Uber Cup? thank you!
