How would you grade the lighting, ceiling heights and the thickness/comfortness of courts in Canada? Grading is 1-10 with 10 is the best.

    1. Richmond Pro
    2. Clear One
    3. Clear Two
    4. Yumo
    5. VLTC
    6. VRC
    7. Calgary Winter Club
    8. Glencoe
    9. Mandarin Badminton Club
    10. Lee's
    11. Flying Dragon
    12. Suria
    13. Atwater

    Thanks for your input!

both glencoe and winter club in calgary have wooden floors. the walls at winterclub are blue while at glencoe they are green. the celing is adaquet height not sure the exact height but its very unlikley you will hit it at all. the lighting is very similar in both clubs with the lights placed inbetween the courts and they have the lights and then a cloth (it appears to be cloth) covering over it i do however find winter club to be "brighter" to an extent but thats just cause it has lighter color walls. not to sure what rating i would give them though, just providing the information i can offer.

Mandarin has nice rubber mats, but the courts are packed in tightly (some are placed sideways to one another).

RA (in Ottawa) has wooden floors, which were somewhat slippery the last time I was there, but they may have fixed that by now. The ceilings are high and the lights are placed between courts.

KW (in Kitchener) has wooden floors too, it can get cold there in the winter, though they have heaters behind each court these days.

Thanks for your response! How about the clubs from the West coast? I've heard alot about Lee's and Flying Dragon in Ontario. What about the new club Suria? I'm more concern to the training facilities rather than the fancy interior design. Does it make a difference with the quality of flooring when a player trains there regularly? Thanks again!

Flying Dragon when i went there had court mats with painted cement floor underneath. Their lightings have improved the last time i went compared to before.

Suria (if it's the new club close to lee's) has rubber mats, and when i went they weren't "officially open". Not sure if it's carpet or cement under those mats but in some places mats are bit bumpy. It was bit dark but hopefully things have changed.

Mandarin does have nicer courts. Best court out of these three

it is hard to give precise rating because one has to play in all of these facilities before a proper rating can be assigned but i'll give it a shot

both CWC and glencoe use suspended hardwood flooring. I would rate it as 8 if international mat is 10.

glencoe lighting: 7.5, a bit dim
CWC lighting: similar set up as in glencoe but brighter: 8.5

You guys are great! Now I've a better comparison....but what about Clear 1 & 2, Richmond Pro, VLTC, VRC because these are have been around for a while. Have they upgrade their facilities or court mats or underpadding?
