What are the main differences between the Mavis 300 and Mavis 370 in terms of durability, flight path and quality of play? What shuttle is most similar to a feather shuttle? Any ideas?

any difference will be so small. If u want closest to feather, just go to feather. Close to feather has broad interpretation. Even feathers feel different between brands and grades. I went for the Mavis 300:p:p

In Canada, I notice that we usually use yellow Mavis 300 if we play with synthetics.

red , blue and green are color code for speed, not quality.
where i live, green (slow) is still not slow enough
blue is about right for toronto

I bought 4 doz Mavis 370 and found that the shuttle has a tendancy to wobble a small bit mid-flight. Theyre being returned for exchange with 300s as soon as possible! Anyone else found this or did I get a bad few boxes?

Nylon shuttles do wobble more than feathers. Shuttles are tested for rotational speed. Only reputable feathers can rotate at 350 to 500 revolutions per minute; nylon can only dream about it. In a nylon shuttle there are no more than 100 strands of plastic; in feathers, you will find at least 10,000 minute strands of strands of extremely tough protein fiber (keratin) in just one feather. And there are 16 feathers in a feather shuttle.

I didn't get that yesterday when I tried a tube of Mavis 370s. A friend who was playing on the next court recommended I try some. They were alright; in my opinion, the best synthetic shuttle there is but nowhere near as good as even cheap feather shuttles.

@ taneepak: I noticed the difference in rotational speed from my normal choice of feather shuttle. You could tell when you tried to slice the shuttle; the speed difference just wasn't there.

wow that is a lot of shuttles....

I have had a tube of 6 Mavis 500's last me 3 months =) very happy....

Though I conceed that the feathers feel better, the good quality nylons give you great game play. I play at 3 clubs and for one of them we voted to play with nylons... we have saved alot of money and had a lot of fun... Simply they fly straighter for longer... way way longer...
