Hi all , just wondering - in all my time as a badminton player i have never had a racquet restrung with anything but Ashaway - usually the best ashaway atthe time. i notice on this thread that everyone uses Yonex strings. does anybody out there still use ashaway - what do you all think about ashaway strings? am i missing something - i've broken less ashaway strings than anything else - never tried yonex though - never played with a yonex racquet either.

    thanks for any comments

There was a time when i only used Ashaway strings but then switched back to using yonex strings. It was because at that time, the ashaway microlegend was sort of in fashion. Everybody was trying it and i heard many good things about it. But when i actually came to trying it, i realised its no different from my original BG-66. Except the tension of the microlegend dropped noticeably faster. So i ended up changing back to Yonex. Its all personal preference. I'm thinking about switching to Gosen GS-88. That particular string seems very good for high tensions but loses feel quite fast.

And, of course, Black Knight manufactures and distributes all Ashaway string in Canada too. I think they licence it from Ashaway.

    coops241180,

There are many players at there who use ashaway, not JUST for their strings but for their equipment too. I happen to be sponsored by Ashaway and use NOTHING but their strings in my rackets, and yes, my rackets are ashaway too!
Ashaway in recent years have a released a great range of strings that are suitable for any style of play. They have the cheap and cheerful Rally 21's ahich are SUPURB value for money, and suitable for any age range. Then you have the microlegend XL strings which are even better. They are supurb for great control at the net and also huge power. They can withstand high- tensions and are very durable too.
I feel though that Ashaway's product range (eg rackets) are underestimated by the public. They think that Yonex are the be all and end all of badminton, but they have a GREAT range of products and equipment out now that has stirred quite an interest.
If you have any more questions on Ashaway, either ask me or an Ashaway representive who is on here called Steven Willis. Also, visit his website at www.thebadmintoncoach.co.uk

    Regards,
    Matt

Many thanks matt - it's nice to know that people still use the stuff. The place where i get my racquets strung only string badminton racquets in ashaway - but they only have Flex21 and Rally21, what sort of price is there on MicroLegend XL since i imagine this might be much better suited to my game

    Hi,

I'm sure the person who runs the shop can order a set of strings, Ashaway are only in Hertfordshire. Anyway, a pack of Microlegend XL strings costs around £7.50, so your talking £17 or maybe £18 to get a racket restrung with Microlegend XL's.

    Hi,

I feel the chances are quite slim. Ashaway already have a high profile and dont really need to expand it by naming a whole, entire squad. You will normally find it is smaller clubs / shops that sponsor a whole team to expand their name.

I was going to try Ashaway again in HK.

But the cost of the string was too high. Wouldn't mind trying them out again. Anybody with free sets of strings can send them to HK.:D

    Hi,

You could try the XT-5000 or the XT-3000, they are designed on the same basis as the Yonex MP range.
