Yes, Lee CW will come well prepared, confident and determined, I daresay the top prize money is as good as in the bag for him. Mrs Lee can start making her shopping list.:D

Obviously that's not true. For players who want to pour all their focus into one tournament, they already have an award for that. It's called a gold medal. Player of the Year is by definition an award that looks at the whole year, not just one day in August. Thankfully the BWF did not turn the award into a farce by giving it to a guy who won only one title.

Haha, good one. Besides his Olympic victory he had a disastrous year. Why do you think he deserves to be the best player this year? Because of one tournament?

The olympic winner got a gold medal and then also received a golden shuttlecock at Dubai SSF.

But Chen Long and Zhang Nan/Fu Haifeng missed the golden shuttlecock ceremonial in Dubai 2 days ago. o_O

Congo, LCW truly deserved it. Some condolence after ROG.
CQC and HBJ must've given the jury a tough day to decide.
    MM/AT and PVS were obvious

CM looked gorgeous, anybody have pics of PVS, RI, JOJ and AY (was she wearing a dress? :p )

To me, limiting the SSF field to top 8 introduces a considerable degree of arbitrariness to the entry list, often compromising its competitiveness, particularly evident in the Olympic year where many Olympians are wont to take a break or wind down for a few months post-Olympics. As a result, the year-end culminating SSF is usually no better than any PSS or even sometimes an ordinary SS.
