Excessive Sweating Problem during game - anyone have same problem?

    Does anyone have this problem?

    I sweat really really a lot during the games, after a few games, my shirt is soaked, looked like it has been plunged in a bucket of water and pull out.

    Even if i used the drifit shirts, it does not help, actually its worse coz it becomes soaked and dripping since it is not so absorbent.

    Anyone bring spare shirts and shorts to change in-between games?

    Are top players in tournaments allowed to change shirts during matches if it is a very long game and their shirts become so soaked that it affect their movements>

    i have the exact same problem... for one 3 hour game, i usually use 3 shorts 7-8 shirts and 2 towels....

    sigh...

    Heck, I never get through that much in such a short session. However if I am playing for 3 hours plus I will often bring a change of kit, including socks and shoes.

    here in humidty central, changing 2 shirts in an hour is common, don't think thats excessive....
    Some people say sweat is linked to fitness levels, dunno how true that is...

    Many people change between games during a session. Assuming near-continuous club play, a shirt an hour would not be in the least unusual. Heavy sweaters more. A lot of this is preference - some people seem to be able to sweat into a shirt for hours without it affecting their play. Heck, some people seem to be able to play for hours without sweating.

    As for tournaments, there is nothing in the rules preventing a shirt change during the 90 seconds between games 1 & 2, or during the 5 minutes between games 2 & 3. Changing shirts mid-set would be unusual and could constitute a delay of game unless the umpire agreed to let you change it first.

    Its ok to sweat. There is no harm if you have exccesive sweat. Just drink more water. Some pll sweat more than others is because their metabolism rate is higher.

    says a bit about sweating. Also as people have mentioned, sweating is good, if you didnt sweat, you would overheat, and get a headache.(or even die in an extreme case)

    I sweat alot, even if the outside is cold. I think sweating is related to internal body temperature, not outside temperature, but if you were in a hot gym obviousley, there is more chance you internal temp is quite high, so sweat more.

    No prolems. Just happens, some people sweat more than others, it depends on what the dominant mechanism for cooling in your body is-sweating, vaso dilation, or big tongue heavy breathing-like dogs!!hah j/k

    I sweat a lot during play. A shirt completely soaked when the weather is warm is normal. I have to wear a headband to keep sweat out of my eyes.

    The most extreme case I know of involved a player at our club years ago. This guy was not only a good singles player, but also a marathon runner--extemely fit, but he sweat like crazy. Wherever he would sit after a match, there would soon be a puddle underneath. One time he was at a tournament during hot weather. He had quit play during a match and default because he sweat so much during the long rallies, it would drop all over the court and he would slip on his own sweat.

    welcome in the club

    But this is a myth: people who sweat alot only have more of the sweating glands :D (don't know how it is called)
    Example: girls do not sweat (or very little) and their metabolism is probably as high as ours...

    myself w/o those glands= dry myself
    myself with those glands= soaked myself

    Actually it's a very well known fact that on average guys have a significantly higher metabolism than women, hence we can eat more and not get fat ;)

    It is way tooooo hot in the gym because of no a/c :mad:

    My shirt gets very wet by the time 3 hours is up. And I wasn't playing continously..I was taking breaks to cool off.

    Pecheur..I agree. I eat way too much..yet my weight is always the same. I get no fatter..but i get large belly after eating. But it goes away :)

    I am in Hong Kong which is hot and humid during summary therefore I have the same problem. but just sweating doesn't affect me, I don't need to change even in 2 hours play. my problem is the sweat flows from my arm to my hand which makes my hand wet and difficult to hold the racket. the only thing I can do is to use a big and towel-like wrist protector (is it what it called?), to prevent the sweat flows to my hand.

    Sweating is one of your body's cooling mechanism. In hot weather you tend to sweat more and hence drink more fluids. If you still think your sweating is abnormal and you have unusual medical symtoms, it could be a medical problem.

    I have the same problem, feels like I just came out of the rain or out of the shower. I found the best solution is to use Nike Dri fits , they wick away the moisture extremely well I find. The ripoff versions are ok to but not as good, just saves you a few $$ thats all.

    Hey, U guys in Singapore have high level of hot and humidity and just like in my country in Indo.. Once I played in SIN with some mates and it was alright although I was sweeting too much like u ages ago, dont panic, it's very common i suppose. Try to use a racket grip made from cotton 'cause it absorbes very well and dont forget to change it regularly as it gets slippery faster in case of u guys. There's also some powder that can help u to reduce it but unfortunately I dont know what it's call in English, u can use it anytime during the game by spreading it on to your palm, OK. U guys in UK, Can..and US don't suffer these problems as much as us 'cause of cold weather and the difference level of wind. It'll be alright when u keep playing it n remember to play calm, relax, take ur time n enjoy the game no matter how good u or ur partner plays it. Consult ur doctor specialise in skin problems for further info. Btw, Chandra n Sigit often I saw changing their clothes too during games especially hard one.

    I talked to a friend of mine who is a doctor about the sweating problem before. My girlfriend sweats a lot in her hands daily. So, I was wondering if there is any thing we could do. So, She told me that, surgery is possible, but the problem is, when you do the surgery, the hands will not be sweating anymore, but it will have a very high rate of chance to "transfer" to somewhere else in the body. So, in this case, the hands could be transfered to feet, which is at the end, no use at all.

    Well actually even girls sweat a lot specially in hot and humid countries like the Philippines, SIN, Thai. I've the same problem during a game specially with my hands. So what i do is bring a towellete with me so i could dry my hands every minute. If not i tend to drop my racket. A wrist band is also helpful...

    I use a couple of the large tennis wristbands - these soak up the sweat and keep it from running down your arm onto your racquet. Make sure to wash them with your kit after each session or it gets a bit smelly!!!:D
