Front Court Coverage for Doubles: When to move more to right or left

    Hi guys,

    I'm watching this video on how to cover the front court in doubles:

    It shows 3 variations. One is where you stand slightly to the side your partner is smashing from and another variation is towards the opposite side (for anticipated cross court return I suppose?).

    So the question is aside from anticipating a cross court return, what other factors do you consider when covering more from the same side as partner or opposite? Is it the anticipated quality of the smash or expected drop of your partner?
