haha...i totally agree with you Krisna and Badmania...

if asian games and olympic is a joke......then why was Lin Dan trying so hard to win both of them?? hehehe..eventually he lost to a better player...Taufik Hidayat...also........we can also try to ask Lin Dan...(through his blog) get his opinion about Olympic and Asian Games....if Lin Dan says Olympic and Asian games are jokes...then he must be Joking...:D...

Also to answer Winston T enquiries about Asian Games (why there were no players like Chen Hong, Chen Jin, Roslin)....coz...Whoever represents the country for this type of event are the best players selected...why worry about them not playing in Asian Games Taufik has already beat them before anyway....also in Asian Games 2006 (Taufik beat Bao Chun Lai in QF, Lee Chong Wei SF and Lin Dan in the Final all STRAIGHT SETS).....c' mon man......be realistic here...He beat world number 1, 2 and 4 in straight sets.....and you think he is no Legend.........NO OFFENCE:D

Hah, exactly... quality over quantity! Although if you ask me, three players in the top 5 is quality AND quantity :D!

as I said it before, Lin Dan is eager to win any titles in badminton!
even though the title was not important, still, he want to win!

I never said that LD doesn't motivated to win AG, but most of TH's fans always considered AG is a big event.

he is not like Taufik. a very selective player. consider he can't win the WC 07 title, he said that "World Meet losing prestige". hmm, another trick from TH.

it's only about the Olympics status; Demonstration Olympics or Official Olympics.

at least, only 1 OG was held in Seoul 1988, and Yang Yang won it. in another words it can say that : Yang Yang won the Olympics gold.

    not absolutely right!
it depends to head coach decision.
even though LYB was very successful, but he is only a human. he also can made a mistake!
once again, blame the regulation. not LYB!

also, Sony was absence in AG 06, but he can defeat TH in Ina's National Championships just 2 weeks before AG. that's why COOLER said, OG, WC, AG & ABC are not a true competitive contests!

China, Korea, and Japan have not put a heavy emphasis on success in AG.
they already won more than 300 golds each until AG 06.

but, Indonesia put a heavy emphasis on success, not only in AG, but also in SEA Games. even Malaysia didn't sends their first team player to SEAG 2007.:D

Looks like Surabaya's boy is back.
Just ask LD how important the AG and OG is. Two events that he got 0 (zero) gold medals on.
Ask any badminton player on what the significance of winning the Olympic Gold....yet you dare to say Olympic is a joke???

    I'm quite agree with 2cents.
    this is the Olympic's joke.

    MATCHDAY 1 (OG 2004)

Shon SM vs Antti Vittikko 15-12, 15-3
    Park TS vs Abhinn G 15-12, 15-0
Peter Gade vs Chien Yu - Hsiu 15-6, 15-1
    LHI vs Stuart B 15-3, 15-2
    Richard V vs Marco Vasconsellos 15-5, 15-5
    Boonsak vs Chris D 15-1, 15-10

consider only 32 MS constestants was allowed to compete in OG, so there are 2 groups in Athens Olympics:
first group consists of top 32 player (if we use the rank date: Aug 12)
second group consists of the player whom are outside top 32

and did u know that: ALL OF THE PLAYER WHOM ARE A MEMBER OF SECOND GROUP LOST IN THE FIRST ROUND, EXCEPT THE MATCH INVOLVING THE SECOND GROUP MEMBER!

that's why I called this is the Olympics joke.
several top 32 players can't participated in OG 04, replaced by several unknown players. as a result, BWF only spent money to give a free trip to them. only needs 30 minutes to play in OG, and then they can go back to their country with a souvenir from Athen!:rolleyes:

I also didn't say it was you in particular, Winston. As for you, I only said that Yang Yang is never a real Olympic champ. 1988 Demonstration Gold does not count towards the GRAND SLAM of badminton. Even the Olympic record keepers think so.

Alan Budi Kusuma is the first real Olympic Badminton MS champ. That happened in Barcelona 1992 when badminton was officially an Olympic sport for the 1st time. ;)

Anyway... if your point is to claim that Yang Yang was an all time great, I agree completely. If you claim that Taufik Hidayat is not another all time great, then I disagree. Taufik will be invited to the BWF Hall of Fame because he is an all-time great. ;)

ABC is just a regional title. not international title.

int'l title : OG, WC, BWF Final SS, 12 leg of SS, GP Gold, GP
regional title : Asian Games, ABC, European BC

    agree with you Winston_T
    ABC is just regional tournament.
BTW, taufik won his olympic gold medal on his 2'nd attempt.
taufik failed at his first attempt in sidney...
so don't worry about LIN DAN...
last time in athens was his first attempt...
and it's just a matter of time for LIN DAN to grabs that OLYMPICS GOLD IN BEIJING....
    Regards,,,,

    thanx Cinta China.
not only that, TH won his WC's title after 4th attempt.
and, from the total of 6 times participation in WC, he only can win 1 title.

according to Wikipedia, Morten Frost Hansen was considered by many peoples as one of the greatest badminton player.
also, by most of BCers, Morten was considered as one of the 4 heavenly kings.
but, he never won OG or WC even once. the only prestigious title that he ever won was AE (4 times).
proved that winning OG or WC doesn't guarantee u could be claim as the greatest.

that's why I called TH as a lucky person.
    lucky bcoz:
Yang Yang never win the real OG gold
several tricky opponents were absence in OG 04
only 2 titles, and he was considered as the greatest.
