grip master.

    got a new toy today. a gripmaster, a grip/finger/forearm stregthening tool that have individual spring for each finger. i have used other ones but they only have one big spring and that wasn't as good as some of the fingers can be shadowed by others.

    i got the low and high tension ones. i have been playing with it today. even the low tension one is pretty hard to do. now my forearm muscles are a bit sore.

    oh, and i found it in REI, a popular sports store. it was in the wall climbing section. i have tried others ones like the ball and other putty ones, so far i think this one give the most complete strength training.

    Wall climbing? lol, I can never think about something that connects badminton to that thing......

    U know... when you have something like that just to work out the fingerscuz of badminton... it's quiet obvious that ur an addict :p

    I bought one of these about a year and a half ago. It really does burn your forearm if you try to contract it rapidly as fast as you can for even half a minute.

    How's that stuff work? I had one from the sponsor teacher at the school I coach at, but no one on the team could get it started :confused:

    I still can't start it without the string. I find the gyro ball to be okay for people starting into forearm training. To increase forearm strength further, one would resort to other forms of exercises.

    When I am on the move... I would use a squish/stress ball for workout. When relaxing infront of the computer, I would use those Bao Ding Iron balls for dexterity (those metallic balls you see bad guys in old kung fu movies used:D).

    That grip master is also used by us guitar players. Funny, I'd never even thought of it in the badminton context.

    the only thing i can use at work is the squishy/stress ball. any other thing like the gyro/gripmaster makes too much noise for a quiet cubical environment.

    Powerball Device...

    Hey BFers!
    I have a question on the Powerball device exercise machine thingy for your wrist. lol yea long name. I think it is called a Powerball But the real name of the ball you hold in your wrist is Dyna-Flex and you hold it in your wrist and roatate it around using only your wrist.Anyways i was wondering does it work? Did anyone find an improvement on their game in any kind of way liek better clears or stronger smashes. Anything! i just bought one and wanted know if it really works because i want ot improve my smashes dearly! I read in the past post about the " Proper way of smashing" and i do workout and i am strong because i use to wrestle. But i can not SMASH FOR CRAP! hope these device does me wonders!

    Ahhh another wayward soul looking for the perfect gizmo to improve <drop/smash/clear/smash> (take one or all).

    Get a partner/feeder, practise your smash with quarter, half power. Once you lock in the technique, then add power. Repeat twice a week maybe 15 mins per session.

    I'm playing piano for finger power. As well as for enjoying nice music :)

    Realistically though, I hold the racket very loosely; don't have grab on to the racket handle tightly, even when I smash. Is it really necessary to train fingers?

    i have one of those powerballs, mine is actually a 'powerball' brand not the dynaflex, i researched the differences, and the differences is that my powerball can just spin alot faster. Roughly up to 15,000 rpms, good luck trying to get up there!!! my fastest was 11,000 and boy is a extra 1,000 rpm hard.... but i use the thing to warm up and get my arms loose i find it VERY good for warming up when i'm in the car (not driving) and once i'm on the court i'm all ready!
