Now that I got ganglion AGAIN I need to rest. I always get it if I play for like 3 consecutive days. Who is with me??

Time to get out the ol' Encyclopedia Brittanica and give it a good whack!

(and if you are old enough to remember that advice for ganglions, then you are probably old enough to remember Encyclopedia Brittanica )

I tried the encyclopedia before but it was too heavy. :p. What worked for me before was whacking it real hard against the sharp edge of a door frame. Of course you have to make sure you have a pretty good aim! ;)

I'm not old enough to know the inside-joke but before reading your post I researched the treatment and it says one of the way is striking a book to the ganglion. :)

It really can work, although it is painful.

The possible problems with the encyclopedia approach are :
    a) It might not break the cyst and you are left in pain with a bigger swollen cyst.
    b) The fluid from the broken cyst can incite inflammation over a wide area of the wrist.
    c) Even if it works perfectly, the cyst still might grow back later.

If a ganglion is small, stable and painless, then just live with it.
If it is painful, annoying and persistent then you must get it properly excised (not aspirated with a needle, but surgically removed). It's day surgery, but it is a bit complex because of the delicate and important structures to which it is attached.

Anywho, good luck. And sorry about ol' doc visor and fidget being flippant on your thread. ;)

Hmm, exercise cyst? I thought Master Fidget had done something similar but it was a smelly one?

Fidget has some good advice already.

But speaking from personal experience with a cyst on the back of my wrist, whacking it with a book is not lethal enough. :p. Either the door frame method I mentioned above would work, or if you've got strong fingers and thumb, you could persistently press and squeeze it real hard (and I mean real hard till your nails almost dig thru the skin! :) ) until the cyst is ruptured. This method is permanent as the cyst wall is completely disrupted so there's no chance of it growing back.

This method works only if you've got some hard bone underneath the cyst so that the pressure you apply is not dissipated.

Okay, Master Fidget can PM me now. Why not excise the cyst by a doctor?

More like sadistic, as now I've started applying this technique on others. ;) :p.

But really, it works like magic, and they thank me afterwards, albeit first after wiping off their sweat and tears.
