While I agree it's kinda cruel (especially that we have seen she already gave her 100%), perhaps we are looking at not-so-secret recipe of CHN success. Their coaches know when to console & encourage the athletes, and when to give them harsh scoldings and punishments.

And... yes, such treatment is kinda 'unusual' for people with "tak apa" culture. ;)

Sorry, don't agree. It's never a good thing for a young girl to be scolded in front of her opponent players from around the world. That is just downright humiliating. Humiliation can never be a good thing, no matter what the objective is. This is how mistakes and wrong corrective methods are passed on from generation to generation.

Really sad. The elders should have known better than behave in such a crass way; instead they are setting a very disturbing example to the young players.

they don't really care if you gave it your 100%. They only care if you win or now and whether you had followed the order.

And such humiliation in the present will spur young players to train harder, so that they won't have to suffer another one in the future. Visionary, yet cruel...

    Exactly my point.

There are other ways to spur your young players on to better performances. They are not performing monkeys to be treated like this. It is one huge step backwards. And frankly, I think much of the blame for WSX's current problems can be laid squarely at the door of those same pompous-assed coaches. Maybe they should be the ones being humiliated. Then by your same yardstick, the players won't have to suffer incompetent coaches. They should be made to follow the "glass house rule." ;)

It would be more acceptable if the player doesn't give the best to the game. But WSX played unbelievable yesterday. I understand what you mean by a 'tak apa' culture is, perhaps it is now happening in Indonesia. I also not agree if everytime player got the bad result, the coach will said 'it's okay, you will be better next time', but A good coach should know when to be assertive or not. Just my opinion :D

the coaches should have planned this earlier to 'remind' them that the OG place is at stake. All the best and perform the best you can. No more excuses. If you mess it up, you pay for it. Simple. ;)

They only need to point out their results and say they're obviously doing something right. You can't say much except you disagree with it morally/emotionally.
