Jolts of pain at knee area.

    Ok, I dont think I injured this during a badminton game, but it sure is affecting my game.
    There was once I walked and was on my feet the whole day without sitting down. and towards the end of the day I experience this sharp jolting pain at my knee area(feels like a current passing through your knee).
    and everytime whenever I I walk too much or stand too long, I get this current going through my knee, it makes my knee go wobbly for a while.
    It has been going on for some time now, but I dont know how to make it go away. plenty of rest doesnt seem to work for me.:(

    Have you tried using a knee brace for support around your knee area. It sounds like wear and tear on the cartelige around your knee joint that might be causing the pain.

    hmm.. sounds like you're having the pain like mine. i recently went to a chinese sinseh and had it cured. i doubt its wear and tear, but a "dis- shiftment" of your bones, due to maybe when you jump and your leg 'jolt'. sth liddat. try nt to jump too much now, see a sinseh and had it cured. rest rest rest will definitely help AFTER TREATMENT! :)

    Sounds like either Carpril Tunnel Syndrome (compression of the nerve where it passes thru the bone) or possibly a pinched nerve in your back. In either case the electric feeling is nerve related and not damage to the knee....Usually tho this does not cause a sharp pain but just a discomfort....If you cant see a dr. then try hanging upside down for 10min sessions. Hanging by your ankles relieves the compression in the spine if it is not to severe....this is also good for blood flow even if it does not help the spine....Really most likely is pinched nerve in the back and this will help it.

    I'm in my mid twenties.

    I didnt injure it during a badminton game. There was once when I was involved in an event, and i had to be on my feet for about 12-15hours each day ...and after the event ended 3 days later. I will get tis "shocking sensation" whenever I stand or walk for too long. :(

    Will visiting a chinese sinseh really help? I will try it out if it works.

    It depends what you want to achieve.

    If you want the best chance of curing your injury, see a doctor first, and then consider following up with any specialist treatment (physiotherapy...) as recommended by your doctor.

    If you want your injury to help you dabble in spiritualism, then take your pick from any number of "alternative therapies".

    Evidence-based medical methods are the only reliable form of treatment.

    Nevertheless, some "alternative therapies" are gradually becoming mainstream, as they accumulate a respectable body of scientific evidence that supports their effectiveness. Acupuncture, for example, is now recognised by a significant proportion of medical professionals to be effective. The theory behind it (ancient Chinese physiology) is complete bunk, but the treatment is nonetheless effective for many types of injury.

    But most of them are complete rubbish. Crystal therapy? Homeopathy? Soft-headed hippy nonsense. They might make you feel better if you are a bit depressed (placebo effect, or just the effect of being pampered), but they won't do anything for a real injury.

    You will hear earnest testemonials from friends (or people on these forums) claiming that these alternative therapies worked for them. Just remember that people will believe whatever they want to believe, and testemonials are NOT scientific evidence: correlation is not the same as cause.

    Hmm, actually chinese sinseh are actually some sort of osteopath.
    When u rolled your ankles, would you rather the doctor put them in cast and tell u to rest plenty or would you rather have someone to apply some healing cream and massage the injured area or set the bones in right place again?

    :D At your age it is DEFINATELY A PINCHED OR COMPRESSED NERVE !!!!! I just went thru the same thing except the electric sensation was in my foot and the (sounds silly I know) hanging bit worked after just a few sessions....They also have for sale a neck stretcher that does the same thing as hanging upside down by your ankles....:D

    I may be too late posting this, but I'd say go see a doctor and get an MRI or something. I broke my ACL on a jump smash (on my 4th or 5th consecutive jump). On top of that, tore some fibers of my MCL and also my meniscus. Definitely is no laughing matter. See the doctor and you might get some prescription to strengthen the knee (specific exercises) even if there's nothing "wrong" with it.
