Sure everyone has downtimes, but this downtime is happening with OG just around the corner when you can't afford to have a "downtime", hence there's more anxiety.

I hope they snap out of it soon but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned.

Well it is dissapointing that they lost. However i dont think there will be things to worry about. Maybe many will critic both of them at the moment.

yes, over confident could be the problem. Told them to split first, wonder if they can bounce back and win the next tournament. Unlikely. Hope they can proof me wrong.

I asked Oldhand that cos he's not Msian & it's not the 1st time he made comments about KKK/TBH. Normally a Msian would start such a thread.

After their surprise lost to Korea stratch pair in TC qualifiers & 1st round lost in AE, KKK/TBH are not hot favourites during OG, better too, less expectations on them.

As to your earlier reply to cute_tbh, forum members did start such threads after KKK/TBH lost in 1st round 2007 Spore Open, 2007 Sudirman Cup, etc. Basically every time they lost early round or lost badly..
Yes, they need to get their confidence back, esp TBH.

Kido/Setiawan didnt win titles Jan - July 2007, nothing much said, as you said, there are more Msians here.

Split them not a solution at this moment. Dun forget they have OG ahead. Maybe ask them stay focus may helps them.

"Will you agree with me when I say KKK will be a legend?"
This question was posted by an ardent fan of Koo Kien Keat.
In case you want to see that recent post, click here

Well, now you know why I posted my views on this 'legend-in-the-making' :p

I could reel off several reasons for this but I will give just one.

Markis Kido & Hendra Setiawan have not (yet) been hyped to the extent Koo Kien Keat & Tan Boon Heong have been. Had that happened, we would have certainly seen a thread yesterday titled 'MK/HS - Over The Hill?' or something to that effect :D

As for Cai Yun & Fu Haifeng, they are still in the fray, aren't they?
    Let's wait until after 1745 GMT :p

ok, just wondering since you arent Msian. Hype is what the opportunist did when they wanted to take some glory from KKK/TBH's AG & AE wins. Rexy didnt like all the interference, TBH would rather training quietly, KKK wasnt comfortable will all the interview here & there.

FU/Cai - I meant when they lost in WC 2007, 2007 Japan Open, Macau Open, 1st round 2007 China Open.
Same with Kido/Setiawan when they didnt win titles Jan - July 2007

My take is Indonesia & China fans have seen their players win WC & OG. Winning is normal-lah. Lose also ok-lah. Much Msia's like reaction to squash queen Nicol David winning a title.
There was so much hope on KKK/TBH when they won aft 36 & 25 years. I'll get a shock too if I were the players - like magic wand, must win, bearing the country's hope kinda thing.

As to downhill or not, sonnymak's post in "Rexy cant take it" has a good point.

Losing in the 1st round of the AE aint molly cuddling. It is embarassing.

How funny ... just before the AE, KKK declared that he is set to plunder in Europe again. Hmmm ... well, I guess he spoke too soon.

... but anyway, Beijing is still a few months away. ;)

Split them, not permenantly just for 1 or 2 tourney and get them back together again. Maybe this would help improve their game. The japanese team are getting better, they deserve it. Congratulations to Japanese MDs.

It maybe a case of over confidence on their part to get back at the japanese players or match up problems. Any good player/s have their weakness of some sort.

ermm..theyy can play well against the heavy weight opponents..but they sometimes get too soft on lighter class opponents.

The problem with Koo Kean Kiat/Tan Boon Heong fans is this.

You have great faith and hope on the pair on doing well, and support them "all the way," good or bad, win or lose.

Other people, would rather support them based on metrics, staying power, mental strength; things that can been seen and observed.

When you put the two together, you can't, because they're mutually exclusive, at the moment.

So "the fans" look foolish to the realists, and the realists look unsupportive to "the fans."

And when "the fans" like eaglehelang, azza...ipoh (too many 'z') try to defend based on metrics, like newspaper clippings, etc., it just doesn't work.

cai yun/fu hai feng also lost..
    second round...

how about a thread "cai yun/fu hai feng..also going down the hill"?

    wait...no..people would say..

no need..coz they lost in the second round...not like kkk/tbh...

people cant stand to say sumthing about kk/tbh...but when it comes to other pairs..they would come out with excuses as why other pairs lost, despite being seeded 1 and lost to..who?

    huhu..
c'mon...all these outstanding pairs are human..sumtimes they are up, sumtimes they are down...

whether its kkk/tbh, or MK/HS or CY/FHF...when they lost..it is never fair to create a thread like this...

people say a lot of things to kkk/tbh fans, and those people may be the fans of MK/Hs or CY/FHF...now that the same fate falls down to their favourite players' heads...they sure know how kkk/tbh fans feel...

players could lose..and the loss could happen to just about everybody...even tony gunawan/chandra also lost...

You can't make the same case for Fu/Cai, because they've been performing well consistently, and same with Candra and Tony, you cannot make a fair comparison. Tony and Candra are semi-retired and do not practice together regularly. Whereas KKK/TBH practice regularly and are at their prime age.

But it's true what you say though, they are only human and winning and losing is part of the game. A thread like this isn't a means of attacking anybody, its just speculation and discussion right now, nothing more than that.

Oopsss...the World No 1 just lost to an Indonesian-born Hong Kong pair that they so regularly have beaten over the past few years. Now...this one is indeed shocking....

    How do u judge consistency?

    Since the World Championships 2007:

Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun -- French and Korean Open titles and 7 losses
-- SF losses in Macau (to Choong/Lee), Denmark (to Eriksen/Hansen), Hong Kong (to Kido/Hendra), Malaysia Opens (to Paaske/Rasmussen)
    -- R16 loss in Japan (to Paaske/Rasmussen) and All-England Opens (to Njoto/Wiratama)
-- R32 loss in China Open (to Zakry/Fairuz)

Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan -- China, Hong Kong, and Malaysia Opens titles and 6 losses
-- SF losses in Japan (to Luluk/Alvent), Macau, and Denmark Opens (both to Koo/Tan)
-- QF loss in French Open (to Choong/Lee)
-- R16 loss in Korea Open (to Paaske/Rasmussen)
    -- R32 loss in All-England Open (to Ohtsuka/Masuda)

Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong -- Macau and Denmark Opens titles and 6 losses
-- QF loss in French (to Ohtsuka/Masuda) Hong Kong Open (to Tony/Candra)
-- R16 loss in Japan (to Luluk/Alvent), China (to Tsai/Hu), Malaysia Opens (to Paaske/Rasmussen)
    -- R32 loss in All-England Open (to Sakamoto/Ikeda)

All the 3 pairs have their share of losses in early rounds.
