For some reason, I feel that they haven't played as well ever since Ahsan started wearing those leggings. Game wise, they could be more aggressive (harder smashes, less drops) and improving their defense would be a great idea. I've been watching their last few matches and I don't see that much of a motivation to win again. That MAY be partly due to the fact that Indonesians are satisfied with things pretty quickly.

    p.s. I'm Indonesian lol

Lol, have some faith in your own countrymen. They are obviously just saving their energy for something more important, like Rio.

Not that I don't have any faith in them, but looking at their recent performances, I'm a bit skeptical about their chances in Rio. I sure hope they do well in the Olympics.

    2 factors really

These pair have both met repeatedly, and defensive style play by LYD and YYS have repeatedly beaten by balanced play of Ahsan-hendra (they don't always attack with smashes). Fu Heifeng and Zhang Nan are heavyweight offensive players, which is the weakness of LYD defensive turn and twists.

But one more thing is tiredness. Ahsan-hendra capitalize this to their advantage. At the beginning Koreans kept up.. And even beat the Indonesians.. But they just ran out of gas. This actually happened too in the world championship semis.

They have not won a single tournament since Ahsan started to wear long leggings to cover up his thighs, due to his religious practices. They have done well at the Thomas Cup but did not win any tournaments or even reaching in any finals. The Australian Open, they're seeded top but were knocked out in the early rounds and their fellow countrymen were contesting the final, just shows how embarrassed they must have had felt. Not sure if Ahsan was fasting when he was playing as it it's a month of fasting for Ramadan but even without fasting, they're upstaged by their lower ranked fellow teammates, especially Kevin and his partner, they won have two tournaments this year!

I don't think what Ahsan wear is religious practices. Sung Ji Hyun and Ratchanok also wore it.

But you are right regarding results. My guess is that Ahsan was playing safe as he was afraid of risking injury ever since they are "safe" to qualify for Olympics
    Ahsan still having big ambition

Sung and Ratchanok did not wear full leggings like Ahsan, if you have any photos you're welcome to point that out. Players wear some form of protecting for short period of time but and never like Ahsan's full legging. In my opinion, Ahsan would wear the full legging until he retires from the game.

as far as i remember, ahsan won thailand GPG earlier this year with that legging.

other than that, i think ahsan played safe to avoid injury..

except in thomas cup, he played a little bit lesser intensity..

Ahsan/setiawan losing patient against endo/hayakawa wall.
I think they should play more patient and waiting for the opening when attacking. Controlling the game and waiting the japanese to make mistake.

And the japanese pair applied good strategy too. They avoid fast flat exchange to a very minimum.

I hope setiawan not repeating their mistake. tomorrow against chinese

Too many service errors by Setiawan/Ahsan and giving away easy points. Maybe this is the pressure of playing in the Olympics, but very uncharacteristic for an experienced player of Setiawan's caliber.

Ahsan/Hendra should not have problems versus Chai/Hong. This pair prolly have mental issues, leading all the way in the decider (18-14) against Endo/Hayakawa they ended lost the match.

4 years ago, Hendra/Kido were not even competing at all. I think Hendra sadly should retire by the end of the year.
