Hi, anyone own a mp 99 with a SP as part of the model number? picture attached below...

My bro just bought me one in hong kong, the model printed on the shaft as 'muscle power 99 sp'...as i saw my friend's mp 99 which doent have the SP...so i would like to know what makes the difference of 'mp99' and 'mp99 sp'...

    thanks for any answer~

thank you for ur reply, but the region code usualy follows the serial number printed on the cone [ the part attaches the grip and the shaft]...eg, 12345SP

but whats on my racket is SP follows the model number....i.e. muscle power 99 SP...

seems it means a special version of mp 99 or something....like my other racket carbonex 20 SP...

there is nothing special about it, lots of rackets sold in south pacific have "SP" on the shaft and on the serial

    AaronYuen,

What you ask is a silly question especially for the ppl in Hong Kong. We lived in the world of YY racket with SP on shaft, such as Cab20sp, ISO Tour 800 SP, MP100SP, Cab 20 Muscle SP, Armortec 700 SP, Cab 21sp... It is weird but the fact is all goods distributed in Hong Kong are carrying SP on shaft.

I hope the manufacturer can remove the mark 'SP'.

BTW, congratulations. You'd got a great racket and, definitely, a genuine racket.

thank you Smash, u hv answered my point...

because i am not living in HK, and it looks a bit different with those in NZ, thats why i wondered lor... =P

yeh, i got the carbonex 20 SP, however some guys said its a special version of cb 20...so i was confused too...

    anyway thanks for replying

p.s. oh...hv u noticed that some shops in hk sell the mp 99 really expensivly? like $1500...as my bro has checked the price for me ....then he got me one for $890 in monkok at last...

Yes, if you buy it in the big store such as Sogo Department Store or Royal Sports House (Chain Shop), they mark up the price up to HK$1,300-1,500. They set a large profit margin and their target customers are high-income and hate to visit a 'low-level' district such as Mongkok. They will save their time and willing to pay more which in their eyes are very little indeed.

Mongkok stores set profit margin small to keep their 'competitiability'. Therefore, they sell MP99 at HK$890-$950.

But some stores sell it HK$1,300-1,400 because the racket is MP90 JP (3U). When you grab it in hand and swing it, you will know it worth HK$400-$500 more than the original one. The feel is very solid indeed.

In short, when you shopping in Hong Kong, you better visit more shops and compare their prices. Don't more a decision so quick. Be a wise customer, limit shock of a current models is not a story in Hong Kong. I even found a brand new Cab 20 Long available in Hong Kong recently.

BTW, the logo (shield) of PSBI had been removed in all 'Thailand version' racket (TH). They just keep that side of the cone empty.

Just strung a cab20long the past weekend. I believe it's an old model due to the type of serial # on it.

I have one Cab-20Long on hand now, I am just curious where you can buy more.
In my opinions, I think Cab20L is like a monster racket, and this refers to my review at the Cab20Long review section.

In fact, I just ordered another one from store :)

(I like to have a "pair" of the same rackets)

    ie:

    2 MP99s
    2 Cab20s
    2 Cab20Ls
    .....and so on.

Well, I just mailed the check to a badminton store in China (no, I am not from China, I am from Taiwan) and it will take about a month to get my badminton order here.
(My check takes 2 weeks from US -> China, and then, takes another 2 weeks to ship the rackets back to here.)

I actually ordered 1xCab20L and 2xCab20 (originals), and I will be able to post Cab20 vs. Cab20L reviews next month.

(it will be even more interesting since I plan to get Cab30MS in summer, and it will be Cab20, 20L, and 30MS round-ups) :)
