Dear Friends. I'm looking for World Ranking who described the 64 players in Men Singles for the Olympics in Barcelona in 1992. Still could not find anything on the net! I've contacted the BWF but got no answer. Some of you have saved or have access to those data that can help me? I would be grateful. jmaca46
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Badminton_at_the_1992_Summer_Olympics_-_Men%27s_Singles That's all I can find about the draw, and most of the online databases I don't think will go back that far. You could maybe try to look for the rankings going into the World Championships in 1992, unless there was a major upset at the world championships it should be similar. Any reason that you want these rankings?
Hi Andy05. Thanks for your prompt reply. I have trying the wiki, but only can obtain the OG92 results. My reasons is because every month, I publish a game for all Portuguese badminton lovers. This month, I post 5 questions of Portuguese players, however one is about best world ranking Portuguese player. I contact the 2 players in question and coming some doubts about that. One, Fernando Silva sad me is best place at world ranking is 32nd in 1995 ( near June or July ) and the other is Marco Vasconcelos, who sad me, is best place is 35th place in 2000 world ranking (near April to June). Neither one or other, have any document to attest this situation. I try see this old rankings in Net and IBF/BWF but I don't have lucky.
I couldn't see anything when I had a quick look, I was looking for my old coaches ranking too, seems odd that there is no online record before 2000. Good luck with your research
There are some websites that archive everything that they can find. I have used it once to retrieve some pictures that "technically speaking" no longer exist. I don't recall the website at the moment. You give it an approximate month/year and the URL, it will retrieve what it copied. Try look for it that way.
The website is archive.org but it only goes back to 1996. I think Andy05 is right, there is most likely no online record prior to 2000 anyway.
