And the SriLankan just went all nervy, a pity. Such a great game, He Bingjiao was winning when the men blew his nerves.

Win or lose the point, He Bing Jiao and Sachin exchange high fives after every point. Great to see :)

    Yes, it is.
Rather I have seen that all the players at this stage are super comfortable with each other.
Malaysia/HKG player speak the same language, while Chinese Taipei/Japan players were also easy.
I dare say, for the second combination, is the friction with china something to do?

Yeah, good to see these XD players whom I assumed most, if not all, of them have never met each other before display such friendship, good fellowship, almost in the spirit of camaraderie. I supposed, one or two who are by nature more reserved or even shy, appear to be less expressive, that's understandable.

Ok, so the winning pair had a huge advantage - a common tongue!
But even with the common language they are very comfortable with each other, super comfortable, almost as if they have known each other for ages.

I think, that is the first badminton medal for Sri Lanka team in world badminton history. :D Thanks to YOC for introducing this interesting category. :D

Cheam (MAS) and Ng (HKG) deserved to be the XD Champions when they defeated their rivals from Japan and Chinese Taipei.

The 'injured' Busanan was still able to clinch bronze with a two-set convincing victory over the surprise package Lee Chia Hsin who herself has an impressive run beating Qin Jinjing, Kim Ga Eun and taking a set off the twice WJC Akane.

As for Ginting Anthony, no surprises for taking bronze. Congrats to both bronze medallists.

He Bingjiao is the better atacker but Akane Y is an even better defender.

Earlier, HBJ did an amazing dive return, coming from such a stocky girl.

    A see-saw battle, a deadlock broken by Akane to take G1, 24-22.

Now showing the gigantic battle between two relatively short and stocky female amazons for the empress crown. Japan versus China with neither side giving any quarters 15-17 in AY's favour against HBJ.

I'm having problems with the streaming- off n on!

Now I realize I'm behind time judging from Justine's last post.

Akane's superior fitness will count in the end.

HBJ's defence is not bad too but for an attacking player she got to be supremely fit.

Phew, HBJ earns herself a lifeline. The 3rd set is going to test her fitness.
