Lost Batallion is in Rego Park, Queens. I believe it's at the intersection of 62nd ave and Queens blvd, right next to a Burger King (not far from Sears).

Other places to play in Queesn:

    1. www.friendlybadminton.com (Jamaica HS): however, they just had their last session last sat. Will re-open by late sept. i believe.

    2. www.queensbadminton.com (John Bowne HS): 2 more sessions on Tues (6:30-10:30), and almost all Sat (3:30-7:30pm).

Lost batllion does not open for badminton everyday, I believe they only have like 2 days on weekdays (not sure) and 1 on sat. Not sure about he detailed schedule, but you can stop by and ask them.

For John Bowne HS (NYCB queens), they open most of the saturdays (3:30-7:30pm), and I think only 1 Tues session left for the summer. ;)

but how is the crowd there?

    how many courts?

(if the number of courts are slim) do people argue about other's playing time?
    how much is the fee?

i went to John Bown Flushing but its way to far and its $8 worth of metro card

I only been to LostBatalion once, I remember it's really close to (1st building cross the street) to a Burger King. The front entrance is on Queens Blvd, I believe. Myself never played there before, but I know they have a lot of good players playing there. The official court number is 2, i think, but I heard sometimes, they got permission to "tape" more courts. Last time I went (during a local tournament), they can make 5 decent court easily. I did heard some bad story about this place regarding to ppl fighting for playing time. That usually happens on weekdays. Heard that Sat is not bad.

Regarding to the age limit, I guess that you have to accept their policy. If they let you (or any under aged player to get in), they might get into trouble. This is a government operated rec center, and they have to follow the rules. Well, it's just another 1 month waiting for you, i guess. ;)

Where do you live? I assume fairly close to Rego park area? Then, why you need $8 for metro card to Flushing? I know the bus (#88?) might be a bit limited during weekend, but still...

Oh i see, with limited service on weekend, I agree the public transportation to flushing might be a pain. However, I think you only need to pay $4 (free transfer) for the round trip.

Guess Lostbatalion will be the better choice for you, consider the travel. Just 1 more month, I think. ;)

Since it's drop in, the # of ppl could vary from time to time. Usually, they have about around 40 players for 5 courts (#6 is used from training only). If you show up on time, I think 4 hrs can allow you play quite a few decent games. ;)

Please check www.queensbadminton.com for more detail and updated schedule.

well i was allowed to play there because of my height.

im telling you its great there, i play on the beginner's area because of my age, and there are two really old european men who are extremly serious about the sport, and they are teaching me the techniques etc as we play.

ive won numerous games, but if i lose i lose badly

and the best part is that its FREE, well for me at least

the people there also analyzed my racket to tell me if it suits me well.

i also saw my coach from Jamaica High School there yesterday.

awesome stuff, im bringing a friend of mine on Friday who have to register first, i told him about the programs they offer and he is interested in Boxing the most, but im sure he will be interested in badminton as he likes fast paced sports.

well Thanks Lazybuddy for the help :)

i got myself a new pair of badminton sneakers today and theyre great.

anyway i ahve a question, do lost battalion hall sell grips? i just figured that my other racket which is stored in my closet (made of carbonite) is much more flexible and suitable.

the racket im currently using is made out of iron and aluminium, which is a bit heavy BUT i can aim pretty well with it.

the grip on the flexible racket is terrible and very hard + stiff, so im currenlty looking for a new one

NYCB sells badminton equipment, including grips. However, you can simply go to any local sport store and pick a pack of tennis grips. They work for badminton rackets as well.

All I referring above are overgrips, not replacement grips. ;)
