As the old stocks of feather shuttles run down in Australia, you will see substantial price increases with new stocks. This is due to 2 reasons, the strenghtening of the Chinese currency and the weakening of the Australian dollar. With higher prices the acceptable prices players will be prepared to pay will either force players to use lower grade shuttles or for the more wealthy to pay more.

The shuttlecocks that we have are only for our CCC Badminton Club use

    .
Sorry yanzhi0714 ... The shuttlecocks that we have are only for our CCC Badminton Club use.

Perhaps one day, CCC would get involved with all services, like restringing of rackets, Badminton sales of shuttlecocks, rackets, etc ... for outsiders. Currently, all these services are provided for our CCC players only.

So sorry to have disappointed you.:eek::eek:

Much time is required to look after CCC

    .
Yes phandrew ... I do restringing for our CCC players. Most of my activities are for our club players and trainees. And you will surprised how much time is required to care for them. Now, I am about to do a Session Report of last night's session for them.:):):)

    Xin's Shop Promotion: AS50 for AUD$30 a tube

    .
Yes, quite often Xin does offer good deals via eBay. It's one way by which Xin tries to promote his shop sales. I have to tell Xin to do it more often. :):):)

So ... Grab them while you can. :D:D:D

    Greetings to all,

I have a few questions. I've just received the order from our local supplier of An-Yu shuttles at $21/tube. He's warned that by next month, the cost would increase to $24/tube. He cited the weakening Australian $ and the shortage of feathers being the main reason behind the cost increase. He also said that the price increase is across the board for all shuttle brands when I expressed that the price increase was steep considering there was already one earlier on in the year.

Has anybody else come across such explanations from their suppliers?

There is no shortage of feathers. However, feather shuttlecocks prices are set by China in Chinese yuan. The Australian dollar has lost 30% of its value from its peak relative to the Chinese currency and is expected to drop another 20%. The prices in Australia will definitely go up.

    Shttlecock's price increase

    We are distributing Aeroplane shuttlecocks.

Yes, our manufacturer has informed us the price of Aeroplane shuttles has increased by around 15% in September because the increase of feather price. At that time, Australian dollars has depreciated by about 17% and I have told everyone that the price of shuttlecocks in Australia would increased by at least A$4.00 very soon in my last post submitted in September. Now the Aussie dollar has already depreciated by more than 30%, the price of shuttles next year definitely will increase by $6.00 compared to the prices in September.

Now all distributors are selling their old stocks. They have to adjust the prices up when the old stocks run out.

Currency exchange rates move fast. As of today, the Australian dollar has fallen from this year's high of A$1.02072 in mid July to A$1.6214 today against the US dollar, a fall of 37%. The market expects it to fall another 15% or more.
The Chinese yuan's exchange rate against the US dollar is unchanged, with more upside than downside for the yuan. The Chinese yuan is now the strongest currency in the world. Ditto the Hong Kong dollar.
It may be wise to buy up whatever shuttlecocks you can get your hand on because importers' current stocks were probably imported when the Aussie dollar was stronger.
