They should sign proper contracts with their players. Both should be accountable to each other.

Right now its 'I can drop u anytime with BAM style'. So the players follow suit and 'I can quite this anytime' attitude.

Tit for tat sounds fair enough.

    i quoted this from pemuda.
    u not performed,i'll show u the door.

thats what BAM do.a right thing to do.they have a right.for the sake of our badminton.

the players should be patriotic.should understand the reasons.but to walk away when malaysians need them, such an inappropriate thing to do.

That does make sense. But so far not many has been dropped. BAM only say but no actions to be taken to drop any players. Only players resign.

Little sis, they are not going overseas, they are still in Msia, still play for Msia, still patriotic.

They are 4th & 5th pair, there are another 4 pairs, plus 3 junior more from back-up squad. They are not going for Thomas Cup, OG. Their participation in SS limited.
The squad dont really need them, just Sports Minister & NSC angry cos one after another leaving (1st was WD to KLRC, then CCM, now 4 at the same time), govern lose out on all that they invest.

Correct - no perform, 'show you the door'. So before BAM "show them the door", they go off 1st. Gan/Lin are in danger of being dropped from the team after OG 2008. MS K. Yogendran has already been dropped.

Bf boss kick them out, they resign 1st, save the boss the trouble. Now boss pulak angry- NSC that is , BAM try to be middle man. I think what Jugman meant is when they not perform, kena scolding. They feel bad with non performance, want to leave, boss dont allow. By right boss should be happy.

CMM is older, 27+, so can give reason, old already. The WD player had back injury, she's only 21. Among the 4, only Ong had shoulder injury bf, so become like big issue to govern.

The players do not seem to have kinda proper 'playing contracts' do they?

Then perhaps normal job market rules should apply. Players can't leave BAM immediately. Just give 1 month notice is enough already

    ROFL

BAM needs to be firmer in their stand. If they say they are gonna review and resize, then do so in a clear manner. Don't threaten to kick players out but when the time comes... postpone the decision to another date.

Nothing gets done, people lives & livelihood are played around with... and then u get too much intake from new players but u don't release the old players during the review deadline. The place can get pretty crowded won't benefit the players.

What u end up with is half-half prepared players sent for tournaments.

Maybe now with all this talk about 'transfer fees' then BAM might never want to release any player so that they can collect $$$ from transfer fees of each release. Walao!

    1. anyone knows roughly how much time is needed to find a sponsor? they can only play when they found their sponsor right?

    2. how does the system work? like, what will the sponsor want in return?

i really wanna see the 4 of them in singapore open man. esp woon fui-teik chai. LOL.

For contract system, these players may only be on a yearly contract that is renewed. Therefore, when the time for renewal has come up, they have every right to choose 'not' to renew.

If they try to leave midcontract without notice, they may have to forgo 1 or 2 month's pay.
If they give adequate notice, should not need to pay anything.

Talk of transfer fees is ridiculous if player's are at end of contract. Why?

    1) Sure BAM paid for all their training...that was the contract! It's something BAM had to do. Was it mentioned the players have to pay back for the training?
    2) BAM is not a club holding registrations. It's a national association.

Totally agree with jug8man. BAM need to move on with their policies. Times are changing and they will have to make the contracts more professional with less ambiguous areas.

CCM left end of last year cos his contract ended. Maybe it's contract renewal time, they must make decision now to renew or not renew. If they sign, it's either for 1 or 2 years.

shifting to another club in MAS shouldnt be considered as not being patriotic. Just look at CH after leaving CHN team, he still bears the flag of CHN, no?

And in the end, we are talking about the players' livelihoods here, they gotta make something out of the years left in their professional badminton career since being in BAM hasnt brought them anywhere lately.

Wish them all the best and bring glory to MAS in future.

    totally agree with alfa-2.

And look at the quote in front...
"Honestly, we have been offered to play overseas but we rejected those offers because we love Msia."

    AND!

not only did gan teik chai put any blame on BAM, he even thanked them for bringing them thus far. i think that such an absolutely great attitude.

so i really feel for them when they are being viewed negatively and attacked by the authorities. darn those ppl! lol!

    From The Star Online..

Badminton quartet now decide to stay with national team
    By RAJES PAUL

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's four top men doubles shuttlers - Tan Bin Shen-Ong Soon Hock and Gan Teik Chai-Lin Woon Fui - will not leave the national team after all.
They have been assured yesterday of a better future under the umbrella of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM).
Yesterday, upon their requests, the four players met the National Sports Council (NSC)'s director general Datuk Zolkples Embong at his office in Bukit Jalil over their predicament of a bleak future with the national body.
A week ago, the four had tendered their resignation letters to the BAM, citing that they lacked opportunities to compete in international tournaments.
But yesterday, all four agreed to return to the fold to help the Olympic-bound shuttlers gear up for the Games in Beijing in August.
In fact, they would resume training at the Gymnasium Two in Bukit Jalil today.
Zolkples said that he would speak to the BAM to allow the four players to participate in more Open tournaments.
He would also discuss with the BAM to allow these players to tie up with outside sponsors.
“They understand that this is the Olympic year and the focus is on the Olympic-bound players. And I told them that they could still play a role as sparring partners. It will be beneficial for both sides. On top of that, they get to train under one of the best coaches in the world (Rexy Mainaky),” said Zolkples.
“Then, the BAM can have fresh talks regarding their future after the Beijing Games.
“I have assured them that I will look into their grouses. Their main concern is not having opportunities to compete in international tournaments. They are also hoping for the BAM to relax the ruling on players having private sponsors. Currently, this is not practised in the BAM.
“I spoke to Ganga Rao (BAM secretary) just now and all these will not be an issue anymore. I have told the boys to forget the past and start afresh,” he added.
A relieved Teik Chai was happy with the outcome of the meeting. And he immediately quashed the rumours that they were contemplating joining a professional club.
“We gave our resignation letters because we felt that we had no future with the BAM at that time. There is no malicious reason behind it. Many have read our moves wrongly,” said Teik Chai.
“But we are very happy today that Datuk Zolkples was willing to help and solve our problem,” he said.
After the one-week of uncertainty, Soon Hock said that they would be more than fired up when they get back into training.
“It was not an easy decision that we made last week. We did not have the heart to leave our team-mates. And Rexy, Pang (Cheh Chang) and (Chang) Kim Wai are very dedicated coaches,” said Soon Hock.
“But now that the assurances have been given, we will give full commitment in training – even better than the past,” he added.

Empat sekawan mahu kekal bersama BAM bantu misi emas Olimpik
4 friends/muskeeters/stooges (he he, depends of what you think them) want to remain with BAM to help OG mission

GANGGUAN yang terjelma, hanya bersifat sementara apabila empat pemain - Tan Bin Shen, Ong Soon Hock, Gan Teck Chai dan Lin Woon Fui - semalam sah membatalkan hasrat keluar daripada skuad badminton negara.

Pendirian itu diputuskan mereka selepas mengambil kira kepentingan negara dalam misi mengejar kilauan emas Sukan Olimpik hasil pertemuan hampir sejam dengan Ketua Pengarah Majlis Sukan Negara (MSN), Datuk Zolkples Embong.

The disturbance was only temporary when all 4 players retracted their desire to leave the national team.

Their stand was made when taking into account the national interest to chase the OG gold. They met with NSC Director Daril Zolkples yesterday for an hr.

“Bukan wang jadi faktor keputusan mahu menarik diri sebelumnya. Ia lebih kerana kami berpendapat masa depan kami tidak begitu cerah dan mahu mencari penaja sendiri untuk membolehkan kami menyertai pelbagai kejohanan.

“Apa yang kami mahukan ialah peluang untuk menyertai kejohanan demi kerjaya kami. Apa yang penting ialah keutamaan kepada misi negara,” kata Teck Chai selepas pertemuan itu.
    Gan Teck Chai said :
"It's not money that was the main factor. It was more cos we think our future not so bright and want to find own sponsors to enable us to participate in various tournaments."

"What we want are opportunities to enter tournaments, for the sake of our careers. What is important is priority to the country's mission."

All 4 players emphasised that they dont have problems with their coach, Rexy, who is regarded as very good in helping to beef up their performance.

"We are very happy with Rexy. He's a great coach. We also have no heart to leave our team mates cos the relationship are so close.

“Kami lakukan ini demi negara. Kami juga gembira dengan jaminan Datuk Zolkples untuk membantu kami menyelesaikan sebarang masalah yang ada,” katanya.

Empat pemain itu sebelumnya sudah mengadakan pertemuan dengan Pengurus Besar Persatuan Badminton Malaysia (BAM), Kenny Goh, beberapa hari lalu tetapi keputusan muktamad kekal hanya diputuskan selepas bertemu Zolkples.

" We do this for the country. We are also happy with Datuk Z's assurances of helping us to solve any problems."

The 4 players met with BAM GM Kenny GOh a few days ago but the final decision to stay was only decided after meeting Zolkples.

“Kenny ada minta kami untuk kekal bersama pasukan negara. Malah kami juga pernah berbincang mengenainya dengan Rexy. Saya percaya ini adalah keputusan terbaik untuk kami,” kata Soon Hock.

"Kenny asked us to remain. We also discussed it with Rexy. I believe this is the best decision to make." - Ong SH.

Zolkples was relieved with the stand of the 4 players and praised them for being ready to play a role to help team mates for OG preparations.

"ALthough they dont qualify, they are prepared to play their role to help other players. They too will benefit cos have the chance to spar with top pairs of the country."

"For me, whatever the problems are, can be solved. They also agreed. I will discuss with BAM to find solutions."

With this new stand, BAM will be relieved as they need every help possible to realise the goal of an OG gold.

Opps, too busy translating, over the 15 min limit.
The above article is from Berita Harian.

There's one more below for their die-hard fans.
And that's the official statements. For un-official ones, I'm sure you all will be bugging Ants.

Thus, the saga ends... for now. How come they also like their coach, say go, then stay..... hmmmm student follow teacher's style...

    Dua beregu kekal

DUA beregu, Tan Bin Shen-Ong Soon Hock dan Gan Teik Chai-Lin Woon Fui bersetuju untuk kekal di bawah naungan Persatuan Badminton Malaysia (BAM) sekurang-kurangnya sehingga Sukan Olimpik, Ogos depan.

The 2 pairs will remain with BAM at least until OG in August.

The 2 pairs also asked BAM to give more attention to them by sending them for International tournaments more often.

“Mereka yang meminta petemuan ini diadakan dan selepas kami berbincang, keempat-em- pat pemain bersetuju menarik balik surat peletakan jawatan da- ripada BAM.

“Mereka bersetuju untuk kekal bersama BAM sekurang-kurangnya sehingga Sukan Olimpik bagi membantu persiapan tiga beregu utama negara (Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong, Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah dan Mohd Zakry Latif-Mohd Fairuzizuan Tazari) menerusi peranan sebagai rakan sepela- tih,” k at an y a .

"They have agreed to stay at least till OG as sparring partners for KKK/TBH, CTF/LWW, Zakry/Fairuz."

“Malah, kedua-dua beregu menyatakan kesediaan sanggup mencari sendiri penaja membiayai kos menyertai kejohanan luar negara jika BAM tidak ber- hasrat hantar mereka.

Z: "They thought this being OG year, BAM's focus will be on top pairs. They are even ready to find their own sponsors to participate in overseas tournaments if BAM is not sending them."

“Tapi saya akan bincang dengan Ganga terlebih dahulu kerana pasti ada jalan penyelesaian kepada isu ini,” katan y a.

Kedua-dua beregu itu mengejutkan arena badminton tem- patan apabila menghantar surat peletakan jawatan kepada BAM ketika Terbuka Malaysia ber- langsung minggu lalu.

"I will discuss this with Ganga (BAM Sec General) as there's sure to be a solution to this."

Tan Bin Shen : "I want to emphasize that our decision to send resign letters was not because of money or being un-patriotic,we feel this was the best move for our badminton careers."
"After meeting Datuk Z, we have decided to remain to assist our team mates in OG preparations."

The summary of all the media news (inlcuding those not posted here):
    On the players side :
    1) Will stay on with BAM at least until OG 2008 as sparring partners to team mates.
    2) They dont have conflict with Rexy. All say Rexy is a great coach.
    3) They were not intending to go any private baddy club, just wanted to look for private sponsors so they can go more International tourneys. Currently BAM dont allow players to get private sponsors.

    On NSC Director & BAM's part :
    1) Possibility of BAM getting more private sponsors so more players can go International tourneys.
    2) Flexibility to allow players to find own private sponsors if BAM cant send them. Players still under BAM umbrella.
