    Hi everyone,

I was just wondering why do people sometimes put athletic tape or overgrip to get a thicker butt cap ?

I used to do this. The thick butt cap allowed me to better anchor my pinky finger during the back and then the forward swing of my racket just prior to contact with the shuttle. This allowed me to generate more power for my smashes and clears.

However, I stopped doing this because it affected my ability to perform some control shots such as a cross court net shot.

Handle feeling especially do smash & back court clear. It's feel so good n easier power generation.

But make sure you hold the end of butt cap. That's why it's need to be thick for prevent racket slip out & easier to hold.
But for me that's few disadvantage : -
    1. Head heaviness slightly drop as u can feel when u swing it.

    2. Cross court net drop affected. Probably thick butt cap block your own wrist and some ankle I guess.
As i face the same probs. :D
