somebody else can author the preview of matches. i'm more of a #'s tracker.

out of the first 128 matches 6 seeded players/pairs lost.
this equates to only a 4.6875% 'upset' rate.
3 md, 1 ms, 1 ws & 1 xd. wd played out according to seed.

what can we infer from this?
    • everyone was well prepared
    • the top 16 are indeed better than the rest of the world
    • md is the most competitive
    • my original picks are still in it
    • lcw cost a lot of people a lot of $, especially those in denial about his age :p

Korea XD Choi/Chae vs. LK/HYQ today is a good one to watch. It is a rematch of last Sudirman Cup final decider.

Chung Eui Seok/Kim Dukyoung will make another upset in their meeting with Ellis/Langridge.

He Bingjiao contra Kristy Gilmour would give us an astonishing match as well I think.

Well, Ivanov Sozonov will give a tough match for Gideon/Sukamuljo. I can see the Russians taking it seeing how impressive they are yesterday.

Also think unorthodox Tanongsak can beat SonWanHo. Left handers should be dangerous in this tournament too.

I am shattered that India has only 6 entries left. And given how horribly BSP is playing, Saina's form for the past year and NSR/PJC's injury/inconsistency we may have just 2 QF. Such a shame.

Slow shuttles seem to be causing some problems for some favoured players.

Later in the tournament, this will play into Chen Long's game style perfectly.

    Men Singles Preview

Five Time World Champion, Lin Dan was given a real scare by Emil Holst. From 14-11 to 16-16 in blink of an eye and a backhand smash, the crowd expected another huge upset but Lin Dan after recieving a broad smile from Xia Xuanze never looked back and bagged five straight points to clinch third round ticket. Rajiv Ouseph almost managed to lose the first set against Sameer Verma but dug deep and won it in deuce. He then stepped in and ran the show in the second set, winning with a comfortable margin in the end.

Lin Dan (China) vs Rajiv Ouseph (England)

The Bag full of Energy, Tanongsak Saensoomboonsuk hasn't looked back since losing the opening game of the tournament to unknown Nick Fransman, he disposed Zulkiffli 18 and 13 without much fuss and will now be prepared to take on the World Number 1, Son Wan Ho whom he had defeated last year in Denmark on his way to title. Wan Ho was clinical in his victory as we all expected him to be.

Son Wan Ho (Korea) vs Tanongsak Saensoomboonsuk (Thailand)

Eighth Seed Srikanth Kidambi vs the Future Star Anders Antonsen will definitely steal the show if both players managed to sustain their current form. Antonsen destroyed Sugiarto while Srikanth proved too much for Lucas Corvee.

Kidambi Srikanth (India) vs Anders Antonsen (Denmark)

Shi Yuqi's struggle in this tournament continued and he lost a set even to the Brazilian Ygor Coelho but finally clinched the rubber in an expected manner. Wong Wing ki exhausted a lung and a half in overcoming tenacious Japanese Kanta Tsuneyama and would hope for a Superhuman recovery.

Shi Yuqi (China) vs Wong Wing ki Vincent (Hong Kong)

    Other Matches

Sai Praneeth vs Chou Tien Chen
Ng KA Long vs Viktor Axelsen
    Chen Long vs Ajay Jayaram
    Tian Houwei vs Brice Leverdez.

The way the Korean MD celebrate after beating Goh/Tan is disgusting to say the least.and compare it to How Ahsan beat World Number 1 Li/Liu. lol. of course Li Liu is not a true world no 1 in some way but if Goh/Tan is so fightless like how this board think, why celebrate so?

They just beat an injured opponents. It is not the case of no heart, but i think Goh/Tan simply dont have the body to do it anymore. Tan with his knee injured is the same injury that Natsir sustain, it will never recover without surgery. With surgery, it will need one year recovery whats the point. But the fact, this is MenDouble fast and furious, you cant slow the game , simply its the end of the road for Goh/Tan. Cant see them ever winning SS again. Its such a sorry sight, at their best they are top 4 MD in my opinion.

Injuries is one thing but I think Tan Wee Kiong did too many easy mistakes like hitting the net and serve it short.
However, he is also injured and it might contribute to that.

just like Koo/Tan, once fast and furious during Asia Game 2006 and All England 2007, after that, all changed as they getting slower meanwhile Fu/Cai getting from slower to faster and furious...

Ng just failed to lose any threat, VA knows him thoroughly, and the H2H's morale confidence is a good head starter.
