The hard way for XD pair BUT doing SINGLE training. They need sparring pair I guess :D

Badminton England really mentioning #WorkHard as "word hard" without sparring pair.

5 Horses that are neither dark nor thoroughbred but could spring a Medal surprise

    1) Tommy Sugiarto :
Sugiarto is paired with Hu Yun for the first round who he can beat without a big fuss. Then a potential meeting with Antonsen Anders will test his mettle no doubt. A third round clash with Srikanth may appear as the end of the road for the former Top 10 but people here at BC know, Sugiarto has the experience and the stamina to match Srikanth. We will see.

    2)
    B. Sai Praneeth : BSP is famous for keeping Srikanth in check in the past and has all the tools to produce magic for India. BSP nearly crashed Lin Dan's party in Malaysia this April and made a successful run to the final in Singapore. He should deal with fading Wei Nan pretty comfortably but will have to be at his BSP best to counter Indonesian Wonderkid Sinsiuka Anthony Ginting. Road gets tougher from there as the Chinese Taipei King Chou Tien Chen in Round 3 could spell full stop for the Hyderabadi.

    3) Tanongsak Saensoomboonsuk : The Boisterous Thai displayed his potential ceiling last year in Denmark where his suffocating net play and Thunderous Smash were too much for anyone and everyone. Started the year by thumping Chen Long in Birmingham but faded disappointingly since then. Zulfadli Zulkifli should set him up perfectly for a reality check against the World Number 1, Son Wan Ho.

4)Tian Houwei : Tian Houwei's popularity amongst Badminton diehards has taken a huge hit primarily due to lack of results coupled with unappealing playing style and lack of charisma. But he was at his 'running' best at the China Masters GPG and if he could run into form again in the earlier rounds, we may sing a different tune for him. At the moment, no way past LEE CHONG WEI.

5)Emil Holst : Emil Holst gives unusual vibes whenever he is on the court. For a journeyman, his mental fortitude is too good. Landed Denmark Thomas Cup last year and destroyed Lin Dan in Germany this year which evidences that no one in their right mind will take this lanky figure lighty. All his defeats this year have been a tight-fought contest but if Lin Dan is in his 'World Championship ' form, it will certainly take a herculean effort from the World Number 39.

Wang Tzu Wei, HS Prannoy and Lee Hyun Il are 3 players that should play to make the tournament more fun, I think they have higher chance than the dark horses Foxy mentions.

MAS have to send fewer representatives to WC as the rest who qualified for WC have to stay back to compete upcoming SEA Games...

Really abysmal but what can be done? SEA Games is a priority right now.

Like all other players, they do certain set patterns. This particular exercise doesn't need other players.

Also, it is not singles training. This is a drill for doubles play. ;)

Saina, If she overcomes SJH in the 3rd round, she will have the best chance for a podium finish

Analysing Lin Dan's first round opponent - Local hope Kieran Mierellas.

Mierellas is no pushover whatsoever contrary to the thinking of Lin Dan fans(who are known to be a strong group, ofcourse :D)

    Kieran Mierellas - Kazumasa Sakai | 21-15 22-20

    Kieran Mierellas - HS Prannoy |17-21 21-16 17-21

These two scorelines are enough to suggest that with crowd supporting the Scott, Kieran will definitely force Lin Dan to play at his best.

Mierellas has also scored wins over India's Anand Powar and pushed Marc Zwiebler to the limits in Germany earlier this year as suggested by the scoreline of 11-21 23-21 17-21.

Kieran Mierellas could either round Lin Dan into form or cause a nuclear explosion on the first day in Glasgow, expect a juicy encounter either way.

Woh, you've done your homework on Kieran Merrilees. Good one, another point why Lin Dan's road to the throne is not any easier than his closest rivals, as right from the get-go he's up against someone whom nobody should regard as a pushover. And his path will only get harder as he advances round after round towards the ultimate goal, that for a 34-year-old Lin Dan, not Super Dan, past his prime.

    We shall see.
