With 2 more event to add point in order to qualify, it is time to start this.

    Some interesting notes :

in WD, the winner of Denmark PSS, Bao/Tang most likely will not qualify. But Tang may be sent with Ma Jin.

in MD, the winner of Denmark PSS, Lee/Yoo will need to do well in China and Hongkong in order to qualify. The winner of France SS, Markus/Kidho also. Meanwhile, Koo/Tan is likely to qualify and Tan/Hoon has good chance.

I'm really hoping that Wang Yihan makes it - will she have to win the Hong Kong event in order to qualify? Or will it not even matter as WSX and LXR are likely to be ahead of her - one nation can't have three representatives in the same discipline, right?

Yes, only 2 per country. It certainly has enough points to gain in HK for her to get into the top 8.

But I can't see she will be picked instead of the other 2 girls, considering her current form. Unless, as an injury replacement.

DuPY may not qualify even if he progresses to the semifinal and WZM's position is precarious, that leaves only Chen Long alone to hold the fort for CHN MS.

Quite likely WYH won't be selected as AlanY pointed out should she get into the top 8.

Justin, not quite sure your comment re. WZM.
according to my calculations his place in the SSF is pretty safe, only way he can be knock out from the top 8 is for Hu Yun (HK) to get into the final of the HKO this week, very unlikely I would say.

Hmm, perhaps I miscalculated and underestimated WZM's chances who at no.6 position do have some cushion. So, the word 'precarious' is not the right word.

I'm thinking WZM would most likely be stopped by Chen Long in R2 of the HK Open. So, I thought he might be at risk of being overtaken by Hu Yun, Ueda, and Tanongsak, not to mention his fellow teammate DuPY ? However, I should bear in mind that HY, Ueda and Tanongsak are also facing not-easy opponents in their first two rounds and thereafter.

Yeah, Alan, you're probably right about WZM's chances being safe except that I won't say it's pretty. Thanks.

Does CL still get the points for being in the 32 of the HK Open even though he withdrew?

I think a withdrawing player receives no ranking points. Need to check it up.

Retiring mid-match in the first round gives you points as a 1st-round loser. Withdrawing from a tournament gives you zero. You can see that here from Eom Hye Won's points. She withdrew from mixed in the French Open but retired from WD so she got 2220 for WD and 0 for XD. Withdrawing after winning gives you points as a loser in the round you withdraw from, as seen from Wang Xiaoli's Denmark points here.

here is the dire situation regarding Ratchanok INTANON's qualification for the SSF.

She needs to get into the final of the HKO this week to have any chance for qualification.
If either TAI Tzu Ying or Juliane SCHENK get into the QF then she needs to win HKO outright in order for her to qualify.

Didn't expect it to be that bad, the pressure must be great for IR, then. For Schenk to advance to the QF is almost a sure thing as her R2 opponent, Michelle Li, isn't an obstacle. For Tai TY who is facing Mitani M tomorrow, still possible albeit slightly harder than Schenk's route.

Thanks for your assessment of IR's situation.

Is there any outside chance for Ajay Jayaram to qualify??.. Since Takuma, Tanangsak , Du Pengyu who are above him lost in the first round, am asking it. Just for my satisfaction.

Imagine some of those guys who qualified feeling it's well-nigh impossible to beat Lee CW on his homeground actually decided to make way for Chen Long !? All hell will break loose, a stab in the back for Lee CW who would cry foul suspecting there's a conspiracy against him - that shocking impact would be as devastating as BWF awarding Lin Dan the WC wild card.

Nah, I'm just building castles in the air, letting my mind wander in Never-Never Land.:D

Since we know that KSH/LYD is now splited, will they forced to reunite? or Hoon/Tan will get the ticket?

MS now 1 ticket left to grabbed between Ajay, Marc and Hu Yun, Ajay or Marc needs to win and hope Hu Yun stumble today.

WS is also 3 way battle between Schenk, Ratchanok and the loser of TTY vs Mitani match

WD and XD are already set
