I'm looking at it from another angle. MAS is different from Spain where badminton is never a popular sport and no history of past glories to speak of.

MAS was a badminton powerhouse, besides LCW, they have MD, WS, XD, WD to contribute their share, esp in team championships. Though LCW is the only and best hope to deliver the goods, the rest once in a blue moon succeeded in achieving something, eg KKK/TBH, Darren Liew, and a couple others. In contrast, Spain has nobody except 1 WS in CM, so whether she wins or loses, her position is secure in the team, her services will always be needed, nobody to fight with her for OG spot, etc.

In MAS, badminton is their number one sport, the whole nation looks upon their national players to bring glory to their nation as their predecessors once did, therefore, the burden of the pressure of expectation is much greater, the more so for the players who are expected to carry the nation's hopes. It so happened LCW is the only one who came closest to delivering it as the other teammates all fell short; that's why LCW is under such immense pressure.

Even Lin Dan says he is lucky to have fellow teammates to share the workload. If badminton is not popular in CHN and no illustrious history to speak of, and Lin Dan is the one and only world class player performing, he would be in the same position as CM today. When CM lost four times this year, and that in early rounds, she didn't have to face anyone's displeasure back home, unlike Lin Dan, LXR, WYH, WSX, and the whole underperforming MD team. And we know the CHN players are always facing tremendous pressure at the Thomas/Uber/Sudirman cups. CM was never in such a situation , no such 'luxury'.

I'm sure CM never has to experience what LCW has been and is still going through. Perhaps, one day when Spain becomes a rising badminton powerhouse with a viable team of world class players and CM happens to be the only one who can take home the trophy, then we can say she is in the same situation as LCW.

For the time being, CM's situation is exactly like the Viet warrior Nguyen Tien Minh's albeit his achievements are nothing comparable, only one WC bronze, and several GP titles and perhaps a few SS semifinals appearances.

In conclusion, you are not wrong in a way, just that I look at it differently.

Too many unforced errors for the danes, that is killing them.

To add, if CM is a MAS player, yes, the pressure she faces will be much greater than what she is facing now as a ESP player, esp when LCW has yet to win a major.

Thankful that Lee Yong Dae / Yoo Yeon Seong finally won the game in straight sets or else I would have just stopped watching the match live.
