I just bought a pair of SHB80W. (W for wide).

as name suggest, the SHB80W is suitable for people with wide feet. it is spec'ed to be EEEE size, which is wider than the regular EEE of many other Yonex shoes. in fact, i think this is the only 4E Yonex shoes currently in production.

the SHB80W was previously only available in Japan, however, Sunrise started importing them and now they are available in HK. the model number in the box is SHB80W SP.

I haven't actually tried them in the court yet. for now i am just going to share some photos with you guys.

tried them out in the court today.

they fit my feet very well. the major issues i have had with most badminton shoes is the narrow toe box. not with the SHB80W. if you look at the photos, you will find that the toe box is actually rectangular instead of pointed like many other shoes. this shape fits my gorilla shaped feet very well. in fact, it is slightly too roomy but that is a welcomed change. i expect to have no more callouses on my large and small toes with this pair.

the funny formed insole is a bit strange, the wavy pattern take a little bit to get used to. but i think they do work to grip the bottom of the feet as my feet never slid around.

the grip on the sole is excellent.

the lateral support is also very good.

like most yonex shoes, the top shoe near the leg side molds well and is well padded.

it will take a dozen or more sessions to really break them in. i will post a follow up after that.

    did the 80W replace the 79W ?
Slightly off topic - I have the 79W and I find it very comfortable. To me it did not take a lot of breaking in. It fits like a glove.

I removed the liner and inserted my orthotics.

I bought 79W US size 10 without trying beforehand. On hindsight, I could have gone 9.5.
But overall, highly recommended and certainly worth the value.

Thanks for posting this. I was having problems with badminton shoes as most of them are narrow, tho I'm a girl, I have wider front feet (toes area). I saw your post and went out looking for this.

I'm so glad that the first shop I entered have this model. But the model number is a bit different tho...it says on the box SHB-80W...no SP, Size 25.0 Color : Fine Blue (with japanese writing)

Is there any different? It looks exactly the same...the only thing different is the box label and the shoe model no.

really comfortable shoes but with normal dragging, don't last very long. the front not designed tough material so wear away quite easily.

had mine for about 2 months now and signs of wear already showing (same with a lot of the newer Yonex models actually). the more earlier designs have the meshy/cross stitching (or something like that) which makes shoes last longer around that area.

but overall quite a nice shoe. :)

I went to Mister Keen to get a pair of SHB 80 like Kwun. The shoes are very soft like running shoes and toe area is wide enough. :)

This thread has now ripened for a few months.
May I ask for a review of the shoe from those who bought them in May?
Are you still fans? Is the width still comfortable?

I am contemplating the unforgivable sin of buying shoes online.
My friendly neighbourhood orthotist says that my shoes are just too narrow. But there are only 2-3 court shoes available in the stores here, and no Yonex.

    Thanks in advance.:)

I ordered a pair of these shoes online (always so dangerous).

They are pretty, lightweight and have a good grip.

But they are not wide across the metatarsals. The toebox is square, which is nice. But across the "knuckles" of the toes, the insole width is absolutely the same as any other shoe.

So if you are a duck-footed geezer headed toward bunion-land....it's always best to try before you buy.

(That being said, I'm keeping these things because of their other charms.)
