China skipped almost all Chinese Taipei opens, the reason is their national policy for fighting Taiwan independance and also hostility between Taiwan local organizers and China players.

Care to explain why China sent
LD/Zhang Ning/Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun to attend 2006 Chinese Taipei Open,
Yang Wei/Zhang Jiewen to attend 2009 Chinese Taipei Open, and
Chen Long/WYH/WSX/Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun/Chai Biao/Zhang Nan/Yang Yu/Wang Xiaoli
and Zhao Yunlei to attend 2010 Superseries Finals.
It is pretty much totally up to China to attend Chinese Taipei Open.

Well, priority for China is Olympic medals, especially gold medals. Also next priority is team events, World Championship
But the point calculation is based on 10 best tournaments. There is no point sending to lower than SS tournaments unless there is crucial need to gain points and the player is fit enough to play in more tournament or to gain more exposure for the young players.
And especially even lower priority to Chinese Taipei where there is a need to support Chinese government political will.

If there is any political concern is totally on the China side.
The reason stated in post #7,
"their national policy for fighting Taiwan independence and also hostility between Taiwan local organizers and China players.", is rubbish.
Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei/Yang Yu/Wang Xiaoli had a Taipei night market tour
when they played for the 2010 Superseries Finals and felt Taiwanese hospitality.
