    What about coaching me?? :)

Hmmmmm, not sure. Did you want to continue your badminton at the International Badminton Academy, Denmark. Or was you more interested in coaching etc?

Thanks for your reply, I would like to be a player to represent a club or a national team.

For many years of professional badminton career, I am definitely sure about my ability to be a good player and a coach at the same time.

    Yigang,
I don't know what the rules are with China National team but you probably wouldn't be able to represent other countries until you have obtain your citizenship in that country and also no different representation in the last two years.

Looks like your first step is to identify potential countries where you could continue to compete and then eventually represent the country (when qualified to do so).

For example, Pi Hongyan with France. Tony G with the US. Hian/Limpele with the UK. So, depending which countries, I would say that there are opportunities abound. For myself, I would suggest Canada (since I would like to see Canada have some good successes on the International stage) :D

Hey yeah, Canada's national coach Gunther Huber is gone now, so we need someone else to fill the void...

Should also ask former team mate Chen Gang and Zhu Wei Lun for further possible opportunities.

i know the former no.1 player of Sichuan province (surname Yang) is in HK as a training partner to the HK squad.

Luo Yi Gang also won the All China Games (men's singles) in 2001. That's like the Olympic games of China (very prestigious in China, only held every 4 years), and represented China in the Thomas Cup '98. (I was in the stands watching his match!)

Wait, they didn't get rid of Gunther, they eliminated the position of high-performance director because of funding, and they will find something else for him to do or something. If a foreign coach would be willing to work for a lower salary, then we could still have a head coach/person/position.

    Denmark!!

    Hi Adelle!!

I think there´ll be some clubs in Denmark who could be interested in getting Luo to play for their club.

It might be wise to contact the danish national federation and then they can ask some of the clubs for you.

    Visit badminton.dk for more information!!

If you have any further questions or if you need more specific details feel free to ask them here.

    Kind Regards

    Jonas

    Thank you all for reply.

I will contact those places you suggest.

Anyone could recommend me to those team or clubs, not only Denmark and Canada?

I would like to have more opportunities and choose one of the best good for me and also contribute to the badminton sport.

    Hi Luo,

You could try Australia, however it may be a little difficult to obtain citizenship unless you have other skills (ie. work or education) to offer the country. Another problem may be that the opportunities are limited since funding is extremely low for badminton, and the sport is not that popular here either.

www.badminton.org.au is the official website of Badminton Australia (much is still under construction). Mark is the National Sports Manager for badminton, you can email him at mark@badminton.org.au

Good luck in your search for a better opportunity. I wish you all the best.

    Regards,
    Maz

Why not trying US? Badminton hasn't been a popular sport in the US. As a matter, many treat it as backyard sport... :) If US has someone who can represent the US and win some major or "semi major" badminton championship, badminton will be more popular. May be the games will appear on satelite or cable. I said that because it will really be awhile before they will show them on national TV. :D

Look at soccer. Almost every kids now play soccer. With that, you must have a SUV to carry them also ... :D

I don't think it's that difficult to obtain residency in the US. Just contact the USA Badminton, they can probably get you in easily. Worst case scenario, come in with some kind of student visa, preferably with some California school. Start joining the Opens. Believe me, if the US team wants you to play for US, they will get an attorney to do your residency quickly.

If you haven't done so, try visit the USA Badminton at http://www.USABadminton.org?
May be you can try send your resume to usab@usabadminton.org

    Good luck!

I'm not being racist here however I don't think Australia is a very good choice. We already have a few top ex Chinese players who don't speak very good English and unfortunately this really limits the amount of work they can get. My old coach Han Ai Ping was a good example, former World No 1 singles and doubles, but would never get a top coaching role in Oz because of her English speaking ability. As such she did have a badminton school going and a quite few students ... however as you said it's a small sport and funding is limited. My new coach is in much the same category, former top doubles player, much better than any doubles player in Oz, but still only has limited opportunities.

You must remember Australia does not really have a pro league with strong clubs that play each other all the time. For that I'd recommend Germany or Denmark where players appear to be able to make a living purely by playing.

    Club in Denmark

    Hi Adelle/Luo,

I have tried to email you on the adress posted on your message, but it keeps being rejected as "SPAM".

The reason for me wanting to contact you is, that we might have an opportunity for you in Denmark.

I represent a Danish club just north of Copenhagen. We have a main coach, who Luo know former part of the Danish national team, who also plays in the club.
We have a lot of young talented players - also playing international tournaments. Also a lot of talented boys.

At the moment we might be looking for a head coach to take charge of the development of our players - both to advance in the Team competition and individually. Also who could be interested in representing the club in the Danish Team Tournament and individual competitions in Europe.

So therefore this message to have you contact me - to learn more about your possible request for coaching jobs in Denmark. What did you have in mind, etc.?

Please feel free to contact me...

    bechsie
