    Hi all,

hope everyone enjoyed watching the 2011 Badminton World Championships last week. i lost so much sleep (literally) from watching it i am still trying to recover.

over the past few weeks, i have made some changes to the forum. some are visible to all of you, some are not. here they are:

    1. added a "like" system to BC. most people who have used fb should understand how it works. it is not exactly the one in fb, but it has the similar effect. many people are using it already. it is a great way to show appreciation for people who write quality posts. we also have "thanks" button which is only available for mods to give. this is a special way to recognize exceptional content contributed by members.

    2. i have re-arranged the layout a little bit. took out some fat to make the outlook more simple and easier to read, as well as took out the top advertising bar. instead, i added the sidebar to the side which stays on permanently. i recovered some width real-estate by moving the user name bar to the top of the post.

    3. added a donate button. please help support BC.

    4. speed optimization - a couple of extra hacks that hopefully will make BC faster. this is all behind the scene and have no visible effect.

we have gained a lot of new members recently. welcome!

Boss, I don't see the Donate button.

Ok, I found it, at the side bar.

    oh that!

that is not issue with the width of the column, but instead issue with the number of characters allowed for that "Location" field. i have increased it to 40 characters and now i can input my whole address. :)

thanks for pointing that out though. :)

    Funny.
Latin used to be one of my subjects.

The first Latin to English translator on Google gave me this :
    "
que no era nada" = "and to swim mistress nada."

Is there an option to off those "Like" buttons if we want to? It's ok & all but takes up too much space if using handphone to surf BC

    Errare est Divinus...

Well, I don't care to bother googling and oogling but my best guess would be, it was derived from: To err is human, to forgive Divine, which brings me at my wits end because it must translate verbatim to: To Err (errare) is (est) Divine (divinus)? Am I clueless?

So really Latin is one of your subjects? Prudent enough of you NOT to say one of your favourite/one of your best subjects with High Distinction!:D

Well, Errare est Divinus is my version of that old proverb. Its more interesting this way; depends of course, on who you err with... :D:p

I would say it was one of my subjects. Although I dropped it, later in life it did come in useful for learning chemistry (all those old names if compounds) and University. Never would have thought that a dead language has it's uses.:D
