. BAM was asked to stop bickering and to move forward Today's comment from the Malaysian Sports Minister; http://www.bernama.com/bernama/v5/newssport.php?id=610796 Even Rexy Mainaky's training method has got a mention. .
Just can't wait for the outcome from the next CTC meeting. If less md players in the elite group, naturally there will be less coaches.
BAM should focus on Badminton in Malaysia . Yes, just can't wait for the outcome from their next CTC meeting. I expect those members to refocus on the players and coaches, and never to mention about 'Let's do it for National Interest' again. To me, BAM should focus on Badminton in Malaysia, and not on Malaysia with Badminton. .
The constitution of an association requires there must be enough quorum to hold any meeting even to the extend of making a decision for only ONE player That's what we have, a system! Whether it is a right or not, no one can beat the system
This is nothing more than another round of political posturing. Nothing really different from his earlier demand for an inquiry/report into the MS refusal, then later an incredibly naive statement about BAM not having the finances to support independents for more overseas exposure. "Move forward" is an euphemism for "lets not talk too much about all this. Just be nice guys and do whatever we want you to do. For the national interest, obviously." Here is what the BAM website has to say: 509 Bandwidth Limit Exceeded
. It says; The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to the site owner reaching his/her bandwidth limit. Please try again later. Probably BAM will not want to talk to anyone for a few days. .
BAM want a full-time high performance director . Denmark’s badminton legend Morten Frost Hansen was roped in as Malaysia’s coaching director in 1997 and served for 3½ years. Last year, the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) hired Datuk James Selvaraj as a part-time high performance director – to do a job similar to what Frost did. But now, the BAM want a full-time personnel for the job and are looking for a suitable candidate. Source: http://thestar.com.my/sports/story.asp?file=/2011/8/28/sports/9386945&sec=sports .
Rexy will only know his coaching status in BAM on 08-Sep-2011 . Source: http://thestar.com.my/sports/story.asp?file=/2011/8/29/sports/9389634&sec=sports Rexy will only know his coaching status in BAM on Sept 8 By RAJES PAUL PETALING JAYA: Rexy Mainaky has been assured of a place in the Badminton Association of Malaysia’s (BAM) coaching set-up until the London Olympic Games. The decision was made at last week’s council meeting but whether he will be maintained as the doubles chief coach or moved to the back-up squad will be known after the Hari Raya celebration when the BAM’s coaching and training committee meet on Sept 8 at Stadium Juara in Bukit Kiara. The status of Rexy with the BAM has been widely speculated since his charges Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong’s performances in the recent World Champion*ships at London. The duo showed a lack of speed and power and it saw them going down in a whimper against South Koreans Ko Sung-hyun-Yoo Yeon-seong in the quarter-finals. The defeat also saw the Koreans overtaking the Malaysians in the world ranking at the fourth position. It is learnt that the coaching and training committee and even the council members have different views on the men’s doubles department spearheaded by Rexy and would make their intentions known to the decision makers. Some want Rexy to stay on and make the necessary changes to revive the confidence and form of Kien Keat-Boon Heong prior to the London Olympic Games. After all, he did get them off to a flying start in their careers by guiding them to nail the 2006 Asian Games gold medal. There are also those with the opinion that the former Olympic and world champion Rexy should go after serving the country for five years. They felt that he had done his best and there was nothing more he could do. Some, however, are inclined to see some structural changes and has suggested swapping the roles of Rexy and Tan Kim Her. Kim Her joined the BA of Malaysia this year as the national back-up coach and has been set a target to build a solid team for the 2014 Asian Games and the 2016 Olympic Games. The suggestion is for Kim Her to hand pick several top ranked back-up pairs and train together with Kien Keat-Boon Heong. Rexy, with his wealth of experience, will be given the task to motivate and inspire a few upcoming youngsters. There is also a suggestion for a specialised high performance director for the doubles department to monitor Rexy and other coaches. Although some of the stake holders have formed an opinion of Rexy and are contemplating on making changes, both Kien Keat and Boon Heong stated that they had not made any requests to put under the guidance of another coach. Said Kien Keat: “I have never stated that I wanted to part ways with Rexy. If there such a speculation, then it is not true.” Said Boon Heong: “I have not made such a statement and it is not our job to decide who we want to train under. It is up to the management to decide on a coach for us.” .
So the time has come - 8 Sep for a review of the coaches and their new role and new problems . Btw, what is the criteria of a specialized high performance director? Repeat, 'specialized' high performance director? I know OTB will certainly mention the Bata-man
I believe Morten Frost in in Malaysia at present, but he has stated that he is not interested in the post. http://thestar.com.my/sports/story.asp?file=/2011/8/28/sports/9386945&sec=sports
My take is that Rexy will still be involved with the boys KKK/TBH until the Olympics. (internal source). And Knowing BAM's no balls stance, they will not risk their Olympic "Plans". Rexy would probably get an assistant with him. There might be stricter rules for the players this time.
it looks like BAM is going to have DOWNFALL... and then it will be the end of the Malaysia Badminton Era...
thanks ants for the insider info. agree that it will be suicidal to change coach just one year before olympics.
Just who would dare to compete against Bata James for that post...that Datuk title means buddy-buddy friendship with another Datuks As for MF passing up the post, MF is one smart dude who not only can spot talents but can smell danger of a sinking ship operated by a bunch of nut-case not to jump in...like they say, how can you soar like a eagle when working with a bunch of turkeys, something like that lah
Stricter rules are being applied to both players and coaches by BAM's CTC . It looks like the stricter rules are being applied to both players and coaches by BAM's CTC. CTC chairman Ng Chin Chai said; "While Kien Keat-Boon Heong's request to train under Cheh Chang had been given consideration, the committee felt that Kim Her should have the final say". The combined singles squad will have Rashid Sidek as the chief coach and he will be assisted by Tey Seu Bock, Hendrawan and Hazwan Jamaluddin. Chin Chai said this is to ensure Lee Chong Wei gets the benefit of sparring with a bigger group of players in his bid to win gold at the London Olympics. "We didn't achieve our target at the World Championships and after discussing and receiving feedback from relevant parties, we decided on these changes with the target being gold in the Olympics," said Chin Chai. "Kim Her will take charge of the combined men's doubles squad while Rexy will take over the women and mixed doubles squads with designated assistants while Rashid is the head coach of the men's singles. BAM performance Was there a time when BAM was actually successful in managing the organization, players and also produced exemplary results? Different leadership team would have different management styles, visions and objectives. I wonder any past BAM presidents had done a better job than now. Maybe Tan Sri Dato Elyas Omar? Your thoughts?
...cos MAS's last Thomas Cup victory was achieve during his tenure. This record may stand a long time unless MAS wins the Uber Cup.
