    Hi all,

I love the BG80 strings, play with it mostly. However are they any cheap alternatives that perform similar to it? I must mention, I'm in the UK so I would like UK prices please.

    Currently I pay £5.99 for BG80 strings.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Kindest regards,

    -Ajay-

Here's a link for the cheapest BG80 in the UK (as far as I know). http://www.stringersworld.co.uk/section/367/1/bg_80_yellow

If you really like the BG80 I wouldn't change. I've shopped with them before with no complaints.

have you tried ordering from other places? you can get BG80 for US$5.50-6 pretty easily and if you buy enough quantity you will be able to save the cost of shipping.

If you like the feel of bg80, there is no replacement.

BG80 really is a good solid string. it performs very well in almost all departments, power, feel, durability, tension retention, cost.

it is hard to find a replacement that rival BG80 in all of those characteristics at a lower price.

Thank you AlleyJack, I will give them a try, that is indeed good prices, specially for a reel of 200m!

Kwun, I've been conned with fake strings before from abroad so I just stick to relied UK shops/sites that can guarantee genuine string. Fake strings are a complete waste of time and money. Plus I need strings quite quickly so prefer closer to home.

Thanks all for your advice, it is much appreciated.

    Kindest regards,

that sucks. i usually go with a list of trusted seller that has decent prices. i usually use eric (squash_mart @ ebay), mybadmintonstore or e78. there are some other ones that other BCers have used and trusted. sometimes it depends on the volume as well. these days i buy strings in the dozens every time so the savings can be substantial.

Right now I go through about 14-18 strings per year so I buy my own strings and pay the stringer for labour, it works out cheapest for me.

I might be starting my own stringing and perhaps stringing for friends. I am contemplating buying a stringing machine so might rack your brains another time with regards to this ;) Thanks again.

yeah. that's pretty low volume and the saving won't be worth the effort.

i string for fun for friends and other clients at 150+ rackets a year so i tend to care more about a dollar or two here and there!

you will be poisoned one day. ;)

You can get a box of ten BG80 for just under £41 on mybadmintonstore, or a box of 30 for just under £120. Shipping is free, and they are most assuredly NOT conmen:D.

The only other comparable no-Yonex string I have ever seen is Victor VS850, and I doubt you'll get that any cheaper than BG80 simply because it's new.
