I have felt a severe pain in my upper arm. After playing i had some food and then went to sleep, while i was sleeping i felt severe pain which was unberable. It has happened twice and I had to take pain killers and had to apply some gel. I play regularly and this has never happened before.
What could be the reason on the pain?

I don't know what the cause might be, but if you're feeling unbearable pain then you shouldn't be posting on forums, you should be going straight to the nearest doctor or hospital.

I used to had upper arm problem. Muscle pain and sore after baddy session. Someone recommended me to do push up to strenghten the biceps and triceps. No more problem after that. Try it.

i used to get it too, you need to stretch after your baddy session! reduces the aches in my arm and shoulder and totally it goes away with a few streches whenever you feel the ache.

also sleeping on your arm does it too :p

If it is an acute pain better go to see a doctor. Overstretch may also result in injuries if the muscle is not strong enough.
