At first i thought Lin Dan will give in this match to give chance to his compatriots to win the title in a no-question way while conserving his energy for coming Japan Open. Yet it seemed he changed his mind and turned into the turbo mode in the middle of the match
[well, just a pure speculation anyhow]

That's the problem with WSX: no attacking play. Looks like she hasn't changed or improved her style of play to incorporate an attacking game so as to be a complete,all-rounded player as Morten Frost has commented about her twice before. I've got a strong feeling my idol won't get past Cheng Shao-chieh or Juliane Schenk when they meet later (I wrote this after knowing the outcome of this match against Fu MT).

Yup, somebody please teaches her how to smash. That's why her main rivals are not afraid to lift the shuttle against her, knowing it won't be coming back thundering down, only needing to anticipate her drop shots or clears, so predictable. Even on the rare occasions when she does smash, it's more of a placement shot with no power. If only she learns how to attack and smash more...

World No.1 Wang Yihan smashed 20 winners against Gu Juan to take game 1. She's smashing all the way!

And in G2 now, Wang's first 10 points were all smashes!
    Brute force, I'd say.

Maybe she wants to become more rally type kind of player like Susi Susanti or Gong Zhichao

"doesn't need to smash"?! You forgot how she was trounced by Tine Baun's ferocious attacking smashes during the recent SG Open - that's how the great Morten Frost coached Tine Baun to defeat her i.e try to force Wang SX to lift the shuttle, then smash it down hard without bothering too much about accuracy, just keep it within the lines.

After that match, Wang SX admitted as much, conceding she had no answer to her opponent's powerful smashes. Wake up, Wang!

Oh, finally a smash, so boring. I used to be impressed by her but not anymore when I see her often stranded by her opponent's smashes and her own inability to do the same, even when the situation demands it.

That girl is playing awesome, what can I say?!?!!
Yeah, that shows great defense, how about counter-attacking? Is she capable of turning defence into attack, better still play a more attacking game in the first place, instead of always at the receiving end of the attacks. She should learn from her compatriots, notably Wang Xin who is one of the very few women players who can attack like a male player, delightful.

Fully agree, Wang Yihan ver 2.0 is surely the better of the two! If not the best at present!! WSX style is a rather boring one

I like how Lin Dan starts trying when he is 3 points away from being eliminated.

As usual, Lin Dan nowadays would just move the shuttle around and hope to win by sheer respect without upping the tempo or injecting pace unless forced to, esp when he meets difficult opponents like Lee CW , Peter Gade or Sho Sasaki.
