    Predictions:

    Chen Jin vs. Chen Long

CJ has a better h2h record. but then at the same time, CL has improved a lot. both of which will be boosted in rankings which will be crucial for London. i predict a long grueling 3 games match with CL comes out on top.

Chen Xu / Ma Jin vs. Yoo Yeon Seong / Jang Ye Na

Ma Jin is much much better than Jang at the net and also experience. while Chen Xu and YYS are pretty much equal with CX better at mid court exchange. on paper there should be no contest but it is hard to say. i predict CX/MJ wins in 2 games.

Wang Xiaoli / Yu Yang vs. Huan Xia / Tang Jinhua

solid seniors vs. up coming youngsters. the youngster did well to get to the final. but WXL/YY are unstoppable in every way.

    Jiang Yanjiao vs. Wang Shixian

this will be an intersting one. JYJ is a rally player while WSX is slightly more offensive. WSX isn't in great form though. i will pick JYJ to win.

Cai Yun / Fu Haifeng vs. Jung Jae Sung / Lee Yong Dae

they have to leave the best to last, don't they? :) head-to-head these two pairs are almost equal CY/FHF slim leads by 8-7 with their win in the WC last month. and the 15 match record goes all the way back to 2006! CY isn't very inspiring with his performance in the semi and they only won narrowly the first game with the umpire's help. i think LYD/JJS will take this one to avenge the loss of their countrymen as well as to prevent a Chinese clean sweep at their home ground. we will have to watch if there are any umpire intervention though. hope it won't go ugly. as if it does, it will probably means LYD/JJS walking out.

YYS/JYN played all their matches to rubber in both China Master and Taiwan GP Gold.

In Taipei, they lost in round 1 to Tantowi/Natsir.

Expect XD final today will be rubber game too.

So Korea suddenly has 3 quite good XD pairs, Yoo/Jang, Ko/Eom(winner of Taiwan last week, lost to ZN/ZYL this week) and Lee/Ha.

Of the 3, looks like Lee/Ha is the weakest or maybe the other 2 is rather new and the opponent are not used to playing them yet.

Here are my predictions in bold :

MS: Chen Long [3] vs Chen Jin [4]
WS: Wang Shixian [2] vs Jiang Yanjiao [4]
MD: Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng [1] vs Jung Jae Sung/Lee Yong Dae [3]
WD: Wang Xiaoli/Yu Yang [1] vs Huan Xia/Tang Jinhua
XD: Xu Chen/Ma Jin [5] vs Yoo Yeon Seong/Jang Ye Na

but if China takes the 1st four disciplines, I think the officials including the crowd and floor attendants will make sure JJS/LYD doesn't win.

Boss Kwun, I don't think the Koreans will walk out. Asians rarely do. So far, I only remember Taufik and that's why I was rooting for BOMO to win last night. For JUSTICE.

your picks means they will all be upsets. :)

LYD/JJS did that once in China Open 2007. i was there at the court side and JJS/LYD got the umpire treatment. same situation, during Olympics year. so after a little, they gave up and walked out in the 3rd game.

i think they will do that same this tmie. to be honest, if chosing between continuing and losing the match because of the umpire, it is better to walk out. it will have a deeper impact. such as now when we still remember it 4 years later. otherwise, it will just be part of the statistics and no one will know what actually happened.

I think it will be a big sweep for China on home soil. Partisan support will be tremendous and the Koreans will have no chance to fight back.

In MS whoever wins will still help China to ensure it gets the maximum 3 players qualified for London Olympics if they are within the top 4 players in the world. If WSX wins the WS China may also have 3 WS for London.

I tend to agree with Alan's prediction above provided he does not play in any of the events.

All the Wang plus Jiang Yanjiao are occupying the four highest ranks in WS, so a free fight in todays's final between the two is just possible :p

No, i dont think its going to be grueling match, CJ lost WR points in recent WC....so I predit it will go CJ's way in straight game with less than 1 hour duration. LYB dont want his players playing in Japan with a fatigued body.

MD, I think CY/FHF will win again.....with some umpire and line judges help !!

    For your reading pleasure,

    Courtesy of The Star :

World champ Lin Dan suffers rare home defeat

PETALING JAYA: Four-time world champion Lin Dan of China suffered a rare home defeat, going down 23-25, 15-21 to compatriot Chen Jin in the semi-finals of the China Masters in Changzhou yesterday.
The 28-year-old Lin Dan battled for 45 minutes before losing to Chen Jin. It was Lin Dan’s seventh loss to Chen Jin in 18 meetings but it was his first exit in front of his adoring home fans in five years.
World number six Chen Jin will take on Chen Long in today’s final and a win will certainly strengthen his bid to be the top four ranked players in the world.
China are hoping to win three tickets in the men’s singles for next year’s Olympics.
A country can have a maximum of three representatives if all of them are ranked in the world’s top four.
Lin Dan is currently ranked fourth followed by Chen Jin in fifth spot.
It was also a great day for China as they are also assured of titles in the women’s singles and women’s doubles events.

    It is indeed rare.
