i have not broken a racket for years. so a day like today is inevitable. it is just a matter of time. but especially sad as it is my most trusted liutenant my Victor Meteor X80. RIP.
cause of death is racket clash and probably made worse as it was strung at 29.5lbs with NBG98. awesome power but also very stiff.
Oh no! RIP. I was shuddering wondering whether I should click on this thread. :0 ..... So, now you can be first to find out if the woven carbon is just the top layer for looks, or is it multi layer thru.
in the name of science and discovery... here are 4 samples taken from the frame. left most is the underside of the top layer, and then the next few are layers as we move into the inner part of the frame. so the answer is... it is just for the top layers...
Thanx kwun for answering definitively what some of us have long suspected. So carbon xt is their version of woven carbon, just not fully woven. . Oh well, doesn't reduce my love and respect for the mx series, but wonder why Victor didn't use full woven layers. Cost? Too brittle?
The collision trace isn't so obvious (from the pic) with string 29.5 lb . You may able to get replacement by your supplier. I got mine replaced by Yonex on light collision after two months of purchase. Same spot of clash - weakest spot of the racket.
probably not much of a chance for replacement after i clawhammered piece of carbon fiber out of it to see if it is full woven or not... ops...
haha. don't worry. i think it has lived a good life and even "organ donated" afterwards. and besides, my friend got it from Taipei so not likely i will ever have it shipped all the way back. i might go get one from racketsupply (the US distributor) to replace it.
