I havent been there for sometime but plan to go back to U of C gyms this summer.

    Bearspaw community gym
    monday and wednesday night (~7:30 - 11:30pm)
it is located just outside the city limit, tricky to find especially at nite.

The other places listed are close for the summer.
If you need direction of above places, pm me :)

The YWCA place on sunday morning is very very crowded, not recommended.
(and no rule on court rotation)

Cooler, thanks very much and that is really useful!! :) I'll be staying on U of C campus so knowing that the campus baddy session is open is definitely good news to me! Otherwise you might read in the news about dead body found on campus and death caused by extreme boredom!!! :p

We'll probably meet on the courts?! ;)

Hey cooler, have you played at YWCA before? For that matter...has anyone here played at the YWCA badminton club before? I've been a long long time member of that club, and yes, it does get crowded sometimes...but other times its so slow (it depends every week, and is totally unpredictable). Summers are usually a bit slower b/c everyone is on holidays.

Just to update the information, the club runs every Sunday from 9-12 now. I'm on my way there in a bit! The operator is actually Joe Lee, not Terence. Terence never did operate the club and the phone number is not valid anymore. I have an issue with the guy, but thats another story.

We do have the occasional drop ins and it is $5. I'm just curious if I've played with anyone on this board before! The level of players at this club is a mix from beginners to an intermediate I would say. Good place for interm. players I think.

Kitty, maybe you should drop by when your down during the summer. I'm always looking to play with new players...always trying to learn!

    Go Flames Go!

Hello Subiegt, thanks for the info and invite! :) I cannot be sure but I'll see if I can resist sleeping-in and come out to YMCA on Jul 25 Sunday morning, after an intensive week of classes/mock exams including saturday!!

yah, i have been to YWCA on sunday b4, only twice i think, 7 years ago and 5 months ago. I think Terence started the club but Joe is running it now. First visit is free. Out of the 6 courts, i would rate only 1 court are played by intermediate double. Ladies percentage is higher than most clubs. Mostly plastic players. ~90% are yonex users.

the terms advance, intermediate and beginner are quite loosey goosey to me

5 months ago...I'm sure I was there, maybe we met, I'm Randy. Where do you play now?

My uncle actually started the club (wasn't at the Y intially), and than Joe took over and started running it.

Today was packed! There was the regular members (15-20ish?) and than like 15-20 drop ins..it was so busy!

Terence was the contact person for the longest time, at least for the past 10 years. oh well.

It's an exam-preparatory course related to my number-crunching job!! That's why I need badminton to balance out my mentality!!!! :p

To be honest, I'm more inclined to sleep-in on Sunday and then attend the afternoon 1 pm - 4pm baddy session at U of C Gold/red gym !! ;)
