Suprised a thread like this doesn't exist already. I will compare each racket to one another, in terms of various different aspects. I will get the comparison done as soon as I have restrung my rackets, and I have tried to keep all variables the same.

Feel free while you wait to post your own comparisons. For reference all my rackets are 3U

Yes, there should had been a comparison. Thank you for that.

I am lucky to own both SW35 and MX80. I am anxious to see if (LD rules!) agrees with my findings. I have been using SW35 longer than MX80 (obviously, because of the release date). Both rackets are 3U (SW35 - BG80 / 26lb) and (MX80 - BG66Max / 26lb). incidently, both strings snapped during yesterday's games. (going to try NGY98 / 26lb).

I have used each racket for a solid month without swapping to other rackets.

    SW35

The racket is so easy to generate huge powerful smashes, clears and drives. I am so surprised full body smash and wrist smash creates such enjoyment for me, where as with other rackets it has not been kind. The control at the nets is just magnificent. Defending smashes are so easy done with added control. I personally have not used any other racket that can match it's versatility and agility.

The racket gives you so much confidence when you are underpressure in a tournament, is amazing. I can honestly, say that this racket can be used both in single and double; which, I don't know of any other racket/s that can do that.

    MX80

I was so excited to get hold of the racket upon their release becuase everyone gave such a good review. The truth is, they are right!!!. It is another awesome racket but different from SW35. I have also used MX80 solidly for a full month.

The Clears, drives, nets, drops are awesome, but in terms of smashes, I believe SW35 creates 10% more pounch than MX80. I think is because of the shaft stiffness. I have tried MX80 in both single and doubles matches, I love it. I cant stop using it cause my arm dont get tired after two single matches or a few double matches.

    Overview

Overall, I personally feel that SW35 is still my favourite racket, as it has everything MX80 has plus a bit more punch in the smash. MX80 would be marginally behind SW35. SW35 is like being JJS, the speed, control, agility and enormous power. But with MX80 is like being LYD, the speed, power, agility with awesome all around control. Both rackets are what makes me enjoy badminton more and more everyday. In reality, we all want to have great badminton games and to me by having the right racket you are more than half way there.

    Thank You

    @Marpan: Cool short review :).
When it comes to similar racquets than SW35 you've tried, do you maintain your says against an MP100, Ti10, NS9000X, AT700, AT900P, N90, N55 ?
Other one, you say that you don't feel tired playing MX80, same feeling with SW35 or do you feel the weight more ?
To help you out in your answers, I have tested both racquets but not played them enough to make definite answers, so I am waiting for your precisions to see if I should tried them more in depth ;)

    Hi TiKok

In reference to your questions. I use to be a big fan of Yonex before changing to Victor as, I have tried and owned most of the YY series racket MP100, MP99, Ti10, NS9000X, AT700, AT900P/T, N90, N90II N55, Arc Saber Z, NS9900, VT80.

I don't believe, there is a racket in that list which has the same agility, power, control as SW35. I need a racquet that can perform both singles and double, not like the professional as they only specialised in one area. Even if they change field, they will need to change racket.
Let go down the list of rackets. I am fully aware that some reader may not agree with me, but I based my judgement on my own experience, as I love to use wrist to play my game.

AT700, AT900P, N90, N90II, VT80, MP100 are all single's racket. I would not use any of this for doubles. 1. your arms will be tired after second set of doubles.

N55, AT900T, MP99, TI-10, Arc Saber z, NS9900 all double's racket. Some can be used as singles but would you??

I can use SW35 and MX80 all day, is not too heavy and not too light. The best thing is, if I want SW35 or MX80 to perform like AT700 it can or if I want them to be like ti-10 it will. It might not feel exactly the same but it satisfies me.

    Hope it helps.

Haha! Not much point in me comparing now is there ?

For me the SW35 does everything I want. And like you said, you can play singles and doubles with it and there is no need to change racket. MX80 is similar, I will be playing with it again tonight, so I can maybe give more insight later...

    Hi Marpan ;)
Many thanks for your explicite answer, it does help !
Personally I play without any issues AT900P & AT700 in both doubles and singles even I prefer AT700 in doubles and AT900P in singles.
N55 is more of a singles racquet for me.
However that may be, your answers have convinced me and confirmed what I thought, so I have to get my hands back on a SW35 now...!

@LD rules!: give us your feedback too, I am sure we will read you :)

Both racket are good rackets, and when you can play with one of them, adapting to the other one, shouldn't be a problem because they are both rated head heavy.

In terms of feel, I like the SW35, because it has the classic feel of the Carbonex series (30MS) from Yonex and this is meant as a compliment. I don't feel it's stiff as most of the players say it is, but it has very good power and I even think it's due to the somewhat flexier shaft. But when it comes to fast play, it's also a weakness of this racket. It's not really fast and it's not as accurate as the MX80. The MX80 is from more modern built and you can really feel this. Victor currently building one of the stiffest rackets and this is one of them. I find the MX80 better in control and it's a little faster in defense. The racket definitely feels much stiffer than the SW35. I would rate the SW35 better in power, but the MX80 better in control. But we're talking about 9's and 10's rating, so I wouldn't make a big point of it. I would also prefered the SW35 because I like the classic feel which cannot be compensated with better control of the MX80. Modern rackets feels very 'cold & dead'.

Interesting what you're saying CarbonexFan about the feeling you have, playing more modern racquets.

For me in fact any racquet that doesn't have a classic box shape, I find the knew shapes such as aero-box frame, even worse the aero frame (like the AT900T), I find those racquets with no soul, too easy (?) sometimes, I've got no feeling with those...

Give me an AT700, AT900P, N90, N55, TP100C, any Carbonex... they do have a classic box frame and I feel confident with sure shots off the racquet.

    I can't recall the SW35 frame shape.

Otherwise, at the time I've sampled the SW35 & the MX80, I tried also the SP21 and this is the one I preferred then; I have to try this one more in depth, too

    The Specifikations:

    SW35
    balancepoint (wet): 309 mm
    weight (wet): 91 g
    string: BG 66 Ultimax
    string tension: 25 lbs
grip: towel grip direct on wood
    MX80
    balancepoint (wet): 299 mm
    weight (wet): 90g
    string: BG 66 Ultimax
    string tension: 25lbs
grip: towel grip direct on wood

    Clearing

Both rackets need no much efforts to clear baseline to baseline. Holding the SW35 in my hand I feel some more meat in the head compared to the MX80, so clears with the SW 35 need a bit less efforts. On the other hand the MX80 cuts easier through the air and give you a little bit more time for your strokes.

    Smashing

Both rackets pack a punch of power. I would say my smash with the SW35 is harder but need a tiny bit more time to accelerate the head, while my smash with the MX80 can be done such quick. Stick smash or a full smash aren't a problem with the MX80 while doing this with the SW35 makes me quick tired. I think the reasons are the frame profile and the meat in the head.

    Dropshots

With both rackets are very good dropmachines. In my opinion you need a bit more effort for a drop shot and push the birdie a littel bit more with the MX80 compare to the SW35, while the control of the MX80 is better and the placement is more accurate.

    Drives

The MX80 is an advantage. I could return faster and more sharp compared to the SW35. Drive duels are fun but I have more speed, accuracy and quickness with the MX80

    At the net

The MX 80 is easier and faster to move around. Killing at the net, cross court net shots, deceptions and fooling your opponent is quite fun. But don't get me wrong. The SW35 isn't sluggish! Only a bit slower than the MX80 which can be through the frame profile and the head heavier balance.

    Defense

I catched more powerful smashs from my opponents with the MX80. It's so quick and placing is no problem. The SW35 is also quick but can't beat the quickness of the MX80.

    During the game

I played more than 20 doubles games and more than 5 single games with each racket. I would say the SW 35 is the best racket for doubles if you play in the back and attack, attack and attack. It's also greatest singles racket. It's my first choice for singles. It's quick enough and has this great power.
The MX80 is the better allrounder for doubles with attacking tendencies. Playing in the front or back it' easy easy but can't beat the SW35 if you play in the back through a bit less power. My single game with the MX80 is not as power play like it is with the SW35.

    Conclusion

Both rackets are amazing. I would recommend the MX80 as the best choice for mens doubles and allround play. The best combination of power, speed and accuracy. For singles and mixed doubles the SW35 is the best choice. It's power is awesome and for its meat in the head it feels really quick for defending and netplay.

ucantseeme - you pretty much spot on with your review.

I have gotten my MX80 and SW35 back with NGY98 at 26lb and I love it. It's a little expensive but is worth using it in a tournament not recreational, as I don't believe it will last as long as BG66 or BG80.

Smashes from both MX80 and SW35 is addictive. Cant wait to use it tonight...

Say if you're about to pick either Ti-10 LTD or MX80, which would you go for it?
Or am I in the wrong place to compare between these 2?

Okay, so I'm a MX80 user and have also played with and owned both a 4U and 3U SW35.

Earlier, I bought a 4U SW35 to string and grip exactly like my MX80 so I could make a direct comparrison between the two. I really like the MX80 and it's been my go-to now for at least 6 months, but a 3U SW35 I had maybe a year, year and a half ago still had me curious because I played some good games with it despite it not being optimal for me at the time.

    Conclusion? Staying with the MX80.

The SW35 really is a top shelf intermediate/advanced racket and really shouldn't be discounted because it's a formidable weapon with a high quality classy finish that's really punchy and suitably quick.
Where the SW35 falls down for me, is really purely a balance and feel equation. Both my SW35 and MX80 were exactly the same weight and only differed in BP by 2mm, but they feel completely different on court.
The MX80 is best described as 'zesty'. It's well damped but still has a springiness to it, and while it loses out to the SW35 in raw power, it makes up for in agility and it's well document prowess in a flat fast push game. The MX80 carries it's weight in the head, whereas the SW35 carries it's weight evenly. The 80 is springy and alive, whereas the 35 is solid and maybe a tad 'planky'.

There's no real 'better vs worse' proposition between the two, it's all personal preference in feel. Also keep in mind that from what I've read in the forums, the 4U SW35's are much less head-heavy than the 3U versions (297 vs 305ish) so factor that in when trying them both.

For me though it's still the MX80 FTW.

    Of course! :D

Give me an MX80 with a 305BP and I'd be all over it.

In fact, so would every current SW35 user, because it would render the thing obsolete.
