I suppose that LYB told LWR: "We'll give you a rest day today, so that you won't be tired to defeat Juliane Schenk [6] at the Finals tomorrow".

100% agreed, looking at the strapping on XR leg, it makes perfect sense.

Man, I hope China will start practicing fair play and sportsmanship.
It does not matter if they have 10 WS in a SS as long as they don't fix the matches.

So still not any official news from BWF... are they really blind or acting sarcastic like as though nothing happened?

I'm tired of this discussion. In the end there's nothing you can do about it. Besides I think china's strategy is quite understandable considering the amount of top players it has. They do it, because they can do it.

So are you suggesting we just let it rest and let China bring the game to a disrepute?
There is always something that can be done. We just need to stay positive.

If BWF wants to, some penalty options can be considered :Tournament Ranking points deduction if walkover to teammate. Tournament Prize money. One year ban. You think only China can do it? Hasn t Thailand done it, Korea? Malaysia? India? Let them dress up and play one point.

What's interesting here is that this walkover catapulted P Kashyap into the Olympic draw.
Had Chen Jin played the match and (quite conceivably) beaten Kashyap, India's Olympic candidate would have been Ajay Jayaram.

I don't know if this sounds like a conspiracy theory but China does gain from this walkover.
Kashyap is an easier opponent than Jayaram.

    Ahem Ahem

That's why we wish to discourage "match-fixing".

But we have to admit this: When Badminton is manipulated in such a manner, we no longer know who are our best Badminton players any more.

Fixing to get your own players in is one thing but doing it to limit others is certainly unforgivable.
We will never know but I hope it is not true.

i haven't thought this through so just an idea. what if, if theres a walkover they promote the loser of the last match of whoever quits.
so there is no benefit whatsoever to walkovers, someone has to play someone.
e.g. P Kash would have had to play whoever Chen beat last. instead of just getting a wo

The best idea so far if the walkover is before the match.
However easily overcome'd by playing the game for a few points and faking an injury by which the other player probably went home or not ready to play anyway.

Why don't they just allow team orders?, It's clearly unenforceable to not allow it and it would stop BWF looking like a bunch p**sies.

We cannot say that. BWF is made up of ALL National Associations combined.

If we wish to complain, we need to complain to our National Association first.

Why would we need to complain? Two of the main parts of bwf's strategic plan is to promote the sport and regulate it. Walkovers are tarnishing this, everybody can see it clear as day.
