just bought a tube of these shuttles, it was an interesting concept.

the shuttle itself weighs similar to a normal shuttle. they compensate the weight of the plastic ring with thinner feathers. you can see that the feathers are almost like nylon but like shaped like a feather shuttle, not holes like a real plactic shutle.

playing with the shuttle feels like hitting a heavier shuttle. doesn't fly as far or as fast but certainly no where as heavy as a plastic shuttle (rated 76). flight path is the same as a feather shuttle but you can feel upon impact that something isnt right, like a small piece of rock in your shoe when you walk.

replacing the feathers is time consuming, so what we did is kept using new shuttles and only replace the feather when we got back home.

durability wise, its longer than a normal shuttle and you get to "recycle" some feathers, effectively doubling its life. so technically it'll last you 2-3 games (different sessions cause we replace the feathers at home).

paid RM45 from the official li-ning shop but i'm sure you can get it cheaper off online shops

all in all, its really worth it, much better than a plastic bird but we designated the shuttle as a pure warm-up/practise shuttle and use normal feathers during game time

    Thanks for the review moomoo.

Yes, currently the plastic shuttlecocks do not have the same flight path of a feather shuttlecocks. If these 'feather replaceable' shuttlecocks do fly like the standard/normal ones, then they should be OK. I shall try them when they are available in Melbourne.

There is a tube or 2 of these where I work but we don't sell them, I might have to go and have a proper look if I get any free time. If you're lucky I'll get some shuttles weighed.

    Thanks for the link.

Still hoping that Li Ning will eventually make available the replacement feathers (like a packet of 50 individual feathers) for us to buy, when we are buying a tube of these shuttlecocks.

Which one did you buy? PN1000 is better and cheaper than PN3000 though.

Received them yesterday Pretty fast shipment from Germany!
Going to try them out tonight. First impression? They look good! Feels pretty much the same as normal feather shuttle. Replacing a feather (switched 1 from 1 shuttle to another) is harder then is seems. You need like 2 minutes for 1 feather to pull out without damaging en put back in nicely. So it won't be switching feather on court but rather taking home broken shuttles and fix the shuttles at home.

If it is like 2 minutes for 1 feather to pull out without damaging and put back in nicely, then it's really not much different doing the same for a normal shuttlecock.

That's what I thought too. Why introduce this type of replaceable feathers shuttlecocks when replaceable feathers cannot be bought separately?

Basically you dedicate one bird to fixing others.
    Hard to explain.

I bought a tube just to test them out. Cool idea.
Costs 66 RMB per tube, which is equal to about $10-$11 USD for 6 birds.
