I've notice that most people only ever consider balance point to determine whether a racket is head heavy, balance or light headed. But shouldn't the real question should be the swing weight? I am assumming for the same racket. The 4U and 3U version would have a very similar balance point. But the 3U version usually feel more powerful and the 4U feel more quicker. ( as suggested by the many reviews I've read here). Or is it because swing weight is hard to measure?
after searching on swing weight. It lookis like there is a dedicated machine to measure swing weight on a tennis racket. http://twu.tennis-warehouse.com/learning_center/wtbalswt.php then there is a DIY method for a tennis racket. I wonder if this method works for badminton racket as well.... or maybe a badminton racket is too light to use this method. http://twu.tennis-warehouse.com/learning_center/howto_swingweight.php there is even an iphone app for swing weight.... http://www.appmaker.se/?m=6&s=2
Yeah, for $0.99 I might just get the swingTool app to try out. Haven't figured out how to properly mount the racket handle yet. For now, what I do to judge swing wt is to weigh the racket head mass on a flat level surface. And I'm finding that out of all my rackets, 41.0-41.6g strung is what I prefer for best balance between speed and power.
I note that shuttle house sells swing weight measurement machine: http://shuttle-house.com/new-cgi/ite...GOSEN&hid=GM31 Further, I learn interesting knowledge from at700.com, it seems that they have performed comprehensive research concerning swing weight for badminton's racquet (mostly YY). check this link : http://www.at700.com/SwingWeight/ It seems that head-heavy racquet would generate better power output, compare to even-balance or head-light racquets.
^^^ $2000US to check your swing wt?! You can buy an app mentioned above for your idevice for less than a dollar!
If you figure out how to make use of it? That Gosen device has been around a while, not even sure if it's not just for their Tennis
