Do you re-string your racket(s) just before a tournament or important match?
If so, how many days before the match do you get your rackets re-strung?

I usually re-string mine (with BG66 at 25/27 lbs) about 1 week before an important match.
During that week, I'll play abit with the racket just to "break-in" the strings.

I have no problems adjusting to a higher tension during my matches.

Usually for big tournaments, yes. I do it one week prior to that tournament and I do at regular tension but right now I'm loving BG-80 @ 22/24.

If the strings look frayed or have lost some elasticity, yes.

    Otherwise no.

As my own experience, I always took longer time than others to adjust to a new racket/string. Therefore, I tried not to re-string before important matches.

I would rather go for a spare racket (which I at least sometimes played with) than a "regular" choice with brand new string, if the string snaps before a big event.

Yeah, I usually string it 2 weeks beforehand to break-in the strings.

Can't wait for the big matches this Sunday! :D

    Yeah, I do that, too

    Either BG-80 or BG-65
(somewhere around 20~24 pounds; depends on which racquet)

Seems like everyone likes to break in their strings however, I believe Cheung likes the feel the moment it gets restrung. I find them way too stiff then.

LOL, by two weeks your strings will probably already break :D

Correct Yodums! I do like strings freshly strung.

But I won't deliberately get a racquet newly strung for a tournament unless it's near the end of its playable life. (ie starts to show fraying/feel no bounce). I think the feeling of 'no bounce' can depend on the shuttle used, humidity etc

Since switching back to BG65, my cost and frequency of restringing has decreased markedly. I only need to go back every 2/3 months or so. And I play 2/3 times per week - using 3 racquets interchangebly

I usually do not break strings so easily. But it does happens sometimes..... just hope it doesn't break this Sunday!

usually no, unless the string is really loose and needs to be changed anyway or it's pretty beat up. if I do, it's usually 1 week before and therefore I get a couple of nights to work the string and let myself settle into the string. bg-65.
